Title IX isn't going anywhere. It will cause men's programs to be axed in favor of women's programs as money dries up for sports outside football and basketball.

Not only that but there is a proportionality component. So, as college enrollment keep favoring females, Titles IX interpretation by the courts says the schollies must come as close as possible to that enrollment mix over time. Thus, the number of total schollies going to women will continue to increase over time. It's a great example of social engineering by law that completely ignores market realities. I dont know how many new rowing teams can be invented but I suspect we are going to find out.

One more thing to contemplate for the future is whether non-traditional male/female/others are also covered by Title IX? And, if so (and the answer is almost unavoidably "yes") do they get to carve out their own proportional demand for scholarships too? And, if so, does that mean conferences will have to create new sports for them?

There is a senator holding a live interview tomorrow with 12 prominent doctors who are adamant about this being overblown and that it has passed a threshold and will be virtually irrelevant very soon if viewed accurately. These doctors are among a growing number who are "on the battlefield" daily, treating patients in a non-mainstream manner, downplaying the severity of the threat and trying to provide a perspective being willfully ignored by media and many politicians. This includes not just attitudes towards the severity or lack thereof of the threat but also real, non filtered, and successful application of multiple, effective treatments that unfortunately are ignored because they cannot be controlled or monetized by the "right" people.
It almost isn't worth mentioning as there is a growing chorus of well-informed experts who share this (accurate) sentiment but it doesn't fit the narrative, so......

Don't confuse me with mc, but the tactic of throwing out "potential" organ issues crosses my line. After 9 months of this crap, there is no way anyone can predict with acceptable accuracy the long term effects. Also, the players are more exposed to the general student population than on the playing field. Finally, the argument that we know how we are dealing with COVID, but we don't know how you are, holds exactly no water as far as I am concerned. We are Texas and we don't know how ou is handling the virus? While the lawyer and ex-QB on NBC do not know how things are being managed, the medical and training staffs know and that is all that counts.

So the "you are going to kill'em if they play" is playing with the cards that were up their sleeve.

But unfortunately, it looks more and more like None took up lodging just east of the rock and just west of the hard place. Hard to say whether Slim can rescue None...

Man this is messed up! Anything could happen in the next week. Public announcements from Conferences is all I am going to pay attention to. Too much noise for me. I still think Texas will have a season.

Would be great to have Ohio State, nu, and some other teams join the Big 12 this season. If that is even possible but why not? This year has been so unpredictable, just let it happen.

I agree with you but soon, if not now, we are about to reach a pivot point where the fear porn ends and the rationale people take over. Not there yet, but we are close.

Does this make sense to anyone?
ONLY Athletic Directors and coaches care about this?
If it really is "sobering" then wouldn't they have to cancel all of school, not just sports?
Coronabros seem to not want players in the vicinity of other players. But the same people think its just fine for players to mix with other students, who are not tested every other day like players?

Which gets back to my question above -- this money (+ some from mens BBall) fund all of the Title IX programs, none of which self-fund. How are schools supposed to able able to continue this without football?
