I moved out of SA and Bexar County more than a decade ago. I still work for a SA Company, but I'm working from home and I'll retire before I go back in to town.
Keep in mind about SA. More retired Vets in San Antonio than any city outside the state of Virginia. Roughly 250,000 Vets call SA home. 3 military bases with about another 80K active duty military. Mayor Hitler was on the radio with Bob Cole Friday and vehemently denied these are cuts. He says they are detaching them from the police department and reallocating the money to start their own organizations individually. There are other areas of cuts they have asked the police dept to "look into". Bob Cole drilled him and basically told him he is a lying sack of Shite. Mayor Hitler said to stop believing the headlines because they are wrong. The only cuts they supposedly made is eliminating any OT approval and shutting down the training the academy until the training manual can be "re-written". So in a nutshell with no OT and no new training the department size will dwindle down with attrition. Sounds to me like if they are separating each department but not cutting, that means there is less resistance when they do decide to cut it out. Having all separate entities also means more red tape and less of a likelihood they will work well together.
