I wanted OU on Thanksgiving weekend, but CDC has put too much work and time on politics for it to be changed
Here is the full schedule: Texas and OU both have good bye week schedules, with a break after every 3 games. OU, OSU, and Iowa State are scheduled well apart from each other. Arguably the 3 best teams (besides Texas) of the Big-12. Baylor and OSU are back-to-back however. Could be a tough 2 weeks.
MC, Hoping that for once in his cretin existence Bowelsby finds a brain cell and cancels that worthless game. Also because SEC will own Thanksgiving TV
We have the easiest 4-game stretch to end the season. We're basically done with all the hubbub on Halloween, then it's "coasting" mode to whatever the end of the year will look like.
Yep, and I'm not sure when KSU has ever been easy for Texas, and it appears to be the last game of the easy stretch.
I mostly agree with you. However, Iowa State is no gimme. They were ranked #25 in the 2020 preseason coach's poll. See NCAA College Football Amway Coaches Poll for August 6, 2020 | USA Today Sports
Exactly. Iowa State has made a lot of progress in their program in the last few seasons. They may not be in a position to win the conference this year, but they can certainly jump up and bite a contender on a given Saturday.
OK, what I should have said is that is "should" be coasting mode. This team has a history of playing down to its opponents. That definitely applies to all 4 of those squads from the 2019 edition. But they're probably the 4 weakest schools in the conference not named Texas Tech.
Me likey the: 3 bye 3 bye 3 schedule the Horns got. 9 games + a championship game makes a nice 10... hopefully the Horns get that 10th game. I'm grateful it looks like we will have a season!
Not me! Dionysus promised there would be no math, so I will leave the subtraction & addition to him to figger out!
So, Joe Fan reports on another thread that 1 OCC game officially approved - UTEP, scheduled for Sept. 12 So more math: 1 OCC + 9 conference games = 10 + Big XII championship game.
I’ll probably take some flack for this but I find it difficult to get excited about the upcoming season. Half the schools aren’t even playing and if the virus jumps up and infects a team, cancellations are likely. And even if we win them all, won’t it be a bit hollow? That is, unless we have a real playoff and the SEC and ACC participate. But again, if it were my decision I would move the season to January.
What will change is the availability of a vaccine (and probably before January), new treatments and probably a growing level of herd immunity. I believe that virtually everything will change by January.
Play. If something happens that requires it - shutdown, but give the kids a chance to play and for those of us who want to watch, let us attend. Just my opinion.
What if vaccine is only 50% effective and only 25% of population takes it? Delay football till Fall 2021?
The Tour de France begins on 8/29, so I've got that to watch until Big XII Football begins. Hoorah for that.
I kinda agree here. Getting excited will be difficult. I was excited about the MLB firing back up but with the scheduling and teams cancelling games (i.e., Cardinals, Marlins) you never know if your team is going to play from one day to the next.
My point is that there will always be a reason to postpone. At some point you got to strap in your balls and go for it.
