What's Trump got against US Mail and Social Security

Pretty similar. I'm not sure that the difference is ideological though. Local Republican officials often focus on dumb things as well, such as WilCo asking a constable applicant what he thinks of gay marriage and about abortion. I think it has more to do with big city corruption and sleaziness that's common in Dallas and less so in the suburbs.

If you have to take a day off of work to get a drivers license, you are probably too stupid to vote. Who the hell does that?

Okay, how about something people actually want. I absolutely hate going out to get the mail, because I know 99% of it goes straight in the trash without even opening it.

Besides the fact it is one of the worst run government organization in America, it has been proven beyond a doubt, private organizations can do the same job better and more efficiently. My father spent 20 years as a postal worker, he loves the post office, but even he admits this is true.

My father died last September yet received a Covid stimulus check. As executor of his will, I reported his death to Social Security and refunded his last SS check that month. I am still in possession of that check as nobody at SS can tell me where to send it back or how to have it cancelled.

Nobody can convince me that dead people won’t receive ballots AND vote in November. You are a fool if you believe it won’t happen.

I had no idea. Thanks for the lesson. It makes you wonder why it has government oversight. Get the politicians out of it and let it operate.

They already colluded back in 2016. This CNN report is from after our last general election. No reason to believe they wont do it again

"Washington (CNN) A government investigation concluded that the United States Postal Service "improperly coordinated" with a postal workers union that supported Hillary Clinton's campaign.

The investigation, as documented in a report from the Office of Special Counsel, said the USPS granted employees union leave time off, at the request of the union, to do political activity -- which OSC concluded was a "systematic violation" of a law regarding the political activity of federal employees...."

Deez: How do you guys handle voting overseas? By mail, inpers at a consulate or embassy, or other? I ask since I'm looking at a couple of businesses, one in Austria and one in Portugal and if it works out, I will be moving to one of those. Thanks in advance for the info. I've lived overseas before, but was back home for presidential elections.

Gee, I wonder if being in a Republican run county has anything to do with that.

It's amazing he could write that and yet still continue to bash Republicans and defend Democrats. Amazing. But his football posts are pretty good, and unlike our dearly departed Longest Horn, mostly reasonable.

Honestly, if I were dealing with left wing Democrats a lot I'd argue with them a lot, but conservatives mostly set the agenda here and provide most of the input.

I have no use for tolerating corruption, for nonsense policies on policing, nutty impractical overregulation or for defining opposing views as hate speak. I'm no friend of a haphazard approach to vote by mail.

I like my local governments at the city and county level. Most of what they do is non-partisan and competence is a lot more important than political leanings. If my trash collection, water services and street maintenance were held hostage because of the political leanings of local government...I'd squalk.

I believe global warming is real, that the EPA should be more interested in protecting the environment than protecting pollutors. In my opinion "Clean Coal" is about as real as Unicorns and Care Bears. I don't believe arming everybody is the true route to a more peaceful community. So obviously, I don't feel much at home at Republican gatherings. But all that stuff is relevant at the state and national level, not locally.

I get that a lot from my Republican friends. I get that people can believe the relative handful of leading experts who are global warming skeptics. What I can't stand is the hostility and contempt towards people who read widely, look at alternative viewpoints and side with the majority of experts in the climate science field. But hey, I've already said I don't find the Republican Party politically welcoming.

Conservatives get called flat-earthers or anti-science because we dare question that the science might be wrong. Democrats aren't exactly welcoming either.

USPS is still a government agency. That's why Congress still has oversight.

Lol, I believe in Global Warming. How many climate changes has this world gone through in the last 4 billion years? The fact we think we are forcing these changes is laughable. It's like fleas thinking they control the dog.

Yes, the ash will block out the sun in a large part of the world for years plunging us into an ice age. But that won't really matter because about 80%+ of Americans would be either dead instantly or in less than a week anyway from breathing it all in.

And this is not if it happens, because scientists say it will happen. It's a live active super volcano, but probably not due to erupt for another 10,000+ years. I think that's a SWAG because they also said it could go anytime. I had no idea until I visited several years ago.

Does it matter why the mail is undeliverable? The USPO charged someone to deliver a letter, bill, package or pipe bomb. They were unable to complete their side of the contract. Does FedEx or UPS have this problem? The answer is no, because there is no bailout for FedEx or UPS if they piss off their customers.

So you think the same voters who couldn't push a pin through a voting card can properly address and stamp an envelope, or keep up with a pre-addressed, pre-paid envelope? Most of the mail lost on its way to me came from a business entity. I would bet most or all of this mail was properly addressed and stamped as well.

It's not correct to say the USPS has been self sufficient since 1970s. They have been bailed out several times since the 1970s, the last time was 2012. They lose money every year. Every. Year. They were more than $70 Billion in debt at the beginning of the year and received a $10 billion "loan" as part of the CARES act. But it will never be paid back. How do you pay off a loan when you lose $10 billion or more EVERY YEAR?

Most private companies long ago abandoned generous pensions because they are not affordable. The government, including the USPS, continues to offer pensions because they know the taxpayers and the Fed will continue to fund them. If the USPS wants to be independent, they will convert retirements to a 401K plan with profit sharing. Maybe then, they can start turning a profit.
