    Thanks for the clarification.
I understand there are circumstances or conditions. I disagree (with whoever thinks) that it is something government or white people at large are responsible for or can effectively remedy. If any of us want better for our generations it is up to us to see to it, and no other mindset has proven effective throughout the history of humanity in any sphere of life. I care about my fellow black man, but the one who takes responsibility for and acknowledges control of their present and future is the one who may be helped in this plight. All others will remain slaves to the consequences/outcomes of a mentality that will serve as the lock to ensure it.
If all black people (or white, or Hispanic) people had the same mentality as these then there would be virtually no "successful" or emotionally healthy people.
I read your response to Run on the "overcoming circumstances" topic and know your stance...also agree that this isnt the primary issue in this last instance of unrest. I do understand your perspective. I just see it differently...or at least from a different angle.

Burnt, you’re falling into the typical Dem/Liberal mindset: Blame the messenger.

“inadequate manhood?” This is your informed response, to throw stones? If you can make an informed counter argument, go right ahead. But if you cannot, this attack tactic exposes you as lacking the intellectual integrity to have a mature discussion.

It's all about choice. Most of the choices are made because of what they are taught to believe since birth from parents, relatives, friends, the hood, the liberal politicians who say they have no chance to make it on their own without help, etc. In my opinion basically being brainwashed from birth.

I hired an African American lady a few weeks ago. The interview packet asks, "Describe a decision that was difficult for you to make." Her answer was to get her education and get a higher paying job so she could get out of section 3 housing. She said literally every single relative and friend told her she was making a mistake because she's giving up the free ride. She made the very difficult decision to go against literally everything she knows and it made her a very proud person.

That mindset is very common to underachieve so the freebies keep coming. Not to mention the gang lifestyle that is also taught and pressured to join from birth.

The choices are hard to make more from peer and community pressures than real opportunity.

I actually hired her because she was perfect for the position. The courage was a bonus and I've been using it as a positive example as often as I can. She had so much enthusiasm in what she was saying it was infectious.

Oh Boy,I am sure I would have listened to a 19 year old trying to tell me how to perform my duties on the street. Maybe he should put his life on the line on a daily basis. I sure would not want him to decide my fate on a use of force basis. It is easy to judge officers when you are not the one making split second decisions for your life and others. That kid makes me sick to my stomach. He needs to grow up and realize he is not that important.

So, as part of these thought sessions, are the student athletes discussing how not to resist arrest or be combative with authorities to avoid negative repercussions? Or possibly the value of waiting for all the evidence to be revealed in an effort to learn the truth of the situation? Or, even to think for themselves and try to examine incidents as they are without being influenced by those with a set agenda?

What makes you think this white man wants to live with a bunch of white racists. That's the divide, not black vs white. How about we put all the racists in their own state.

You would have to have at least 49 states for that cause there are a lot racists in all the races.

    You know what?
If they actually interact with the police as they say then some of this may come up.
Just because these guys are young doesn't mean they are stupid and can't think for themselves.
You ***** when they protest without action.
    Well, here is some action.
    I like it.
They are going out into the community and discussing and expressing themselves.
They will learn, as well, as they open themselves up to law enforcement and interact with them.
They are creating opportunities for all to learn.
I protested a war that was killing 10,000 young Americans a year for absolutely no reason when I was 17-18 years old.
You will never convince me to this day that I wasn't aware of what was going on and knew what I was talking about.
And I've got a few stories about police brutality, etc. from those days.

Moon, I’m just hoping there is some semblance of balance in the discussion. You know, some of both sides of the issue. As an example maybe someone points out that the overwhelming majority of police interactions with people of color don’t end in a bad way. Or possibly point out the incredible amount of good that police officers do in all communities. I certainly don’t think student athletes are stupid, that’s ridiculous. I guess that I personally have always found that trying to find common ground with people that I don’t agree with invariably produces better results for all parties. This as opposed to being angry, insulting or punishing folks with alternative views. Maybe some balance is part of the discussions, I just haven’t heard about it if there is.

I'm ok with them doing this. But what I would like to know is what THEY are actually going to do about it besides make a list of demands or sit out practices or games. I promise you sitting out practices and games does nothing for their cause except maybe make them feel better that they did something to punish us rich and racist white folk. People will just stop watching and their future opportunity vanishes.

How about they go out in the community and build relationships. Seek to understand others and tell their stories so other people might better understand them. I also think someone credible to them needs to explain that Antifa and BLM really don't care about them, they are both working towards bringing about socialism in a very violent and manipulative way.
