Duck, perhaps naive of me but I believe that the rant was genuine, albeit very misguided.

Many on ESPN (almost all) are disingenuous and Herbie is probably the poster boy. But what we saw in the video is likely genuine. It’s probably what he really thinks, and therein lies the issue. Until we are honest and realistic about the issue at hand, we will never be able to address it. And the ruse that ESPN is perpetuating — whether honestly or deceptively — is terribly counterproductive.

People like Candice Owens and Larry Elder (and so many others) get it. Too bad that the general public is being fed poison and that they are consuming that poison readily and willingly. But how can we blame them? When the public is mislead continuously for — years — many will buy in and believe what they are being told as fact. Probably half of the Texas players fit into that category, if not more.

Duke, I don't know. I've watched a lot of old Longhorn games on LHN. Guys like Gary Danielson, who everyone now says is such an SEC homer, well, he wasn't when he was at ESPN/ABC and calling Big XII games. Point is, I could see Herbstreit just following the latest script. After all, he's an Ohio State guy, but he tows the SEC!SEC!SEC! greatness line whenever he can. I think he's a shill and a POS and the essence of the cesspool he so carelessly labeled the Texas program as being.

I really think Herbie is a POS. He is an adult. He may just be the next Chris Matthews pissing down his leg but what did I do? What can I do? Crying does not make it better and makes me distrust him in no small part. OSU decided not to play. Others decided that. If the players want to disrespect our country and me then I am done.

It’s no different than the nightly “news” (pronounced noise) programming. Carefully scripted ******** for the lazy, docile and ignorant masses who need an authority figure to tell them what to do and think. Your average SEC fan, for example.

In my opinion, ESPN—like most broadcast TV—is unwatchable for any thinking person.

Only sports news, comments worth anything, now comes from Hornfans.....Honest, to the point, just saying.
    So I have that.
It is time for us all, and a few others to create a better sports network. if there are any sports left.

You do have a point, as usual. It’s a tough call. Herbstreit is undoubtably a phony and a politician but in this case I suspect that one can add “misguided” to the list of his negative attributes. I really don’t think he’s very smart.

George Bailey No beans in my chili, thank you

I watched that and said it was insincere and bad acting all in one. Then I started feeling bad that I questioned his sincerity and blamed my white privilege.

But I'm feeling much better about myself after reading through this thread. I'm not the POS I thought I was...

Thanks, I depend on the internet for my mental well-being. If I need validation and reassurance, I come to Hornfans. If I need to bolster my feelings of superiority and of possessing a higher IQ than most, I go to texags.

I'll have to find an OAN tee shirt before I watch this week's game. Just to piss off my 30 something stepson that backs BLM values.

In all seriousness, if they idolize BLM like they did on MLB's opening day, I'm OUT

I’ll give the team 1 small segment, hopefully at the start.... it’s like they have to as this is the flavor of the day...
But I’m giving that team especially Lowell who is awesome,, and I watched them instead of the actual Gameday crew who I liked before, a short window before I turn them off.
I have rights too America and I have had enough lawlessness and compassion for people committing felonious crimes claiming it is a protest. This movement has changed my mind, opposite of what I think the original intent was.
Anyway, LHN. I just paid ATT to get your services to watch football, don’t let me down as if I need politicos I have an infinite number of choices.

I can almost guarantee they will spend more than one little segment on it. Hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

What is most disturbing to me is how easily the masses can be swayed. That's scary. The masses being willing to condone violence and hatred, taking 3 steps backwards in order to go 5 steps forward, they think. But hatred is a slippery and dangerous animal that can quickly become out of control, especially in a self indulgent society.
    On another note, go horns!

Now you guys have me worried. All I have thought about is football is back, now I’m all concerned what I’ve waited for may be contaminated with messages deemed to be ‘public’ service worthy. BS, please just let them play, don’t ruin what is already going to be a unique season.

I just had a horrible thought, I know there will be no band for this game but what if, when they do come back, they spell out BLM on the field. Oh dear.

I used to watch the PGA tour until practically every commercial break had BLM messages. And there is a tournament in the Twin Cities. They actually talked during the broadcast about honoring the memory of George Floyd. That was several weeks ago. Haven't watched since. I turned it off before I could hear anymore.

That's golf. If you think a sport dominated by young black athletes won't lecture you a good amount, you are in for a disappointment.

My thoughts exactly. The whole time during this ordeal we've been force-fed all the different ways white culture can change in order to accommodate the black culture. At what point does black culture step up and say we've got changes to make on our side too? Other than hearing LeBron with his latest whine you hear nothing but crickets. Too many kids born without fathers, not enough nuclear families, idolizing every rap star and black athlete, limited education and/or education opportunities, gangs, drugs, etc. The list goes on. My kids (white) were minorities at the high school they attended. They had the same educational opportunities that the black and Hispanic kids had. Most of the black kids chose to ignore those opportunities because their culture told them to do so. The "street of change" runs both ways.

I'm finding myself apathetic about this UT football season for the first time in, well, forever. I was at Texas in the mid 80s when we absolutely sucked stinky toes in football and I still never missed a game. Even went to Dallas a couple of times to watch us get destroyed by ou.

But now I'm just not all that interested. Football used to be about people with all kinds of disparate beliefs coming together to share a common passion. Now it's just another political divide to have to risk crossing. I know if I watch there will be some SJW woke pontificating that goes down that will make my blood boil. I'm just not sure it's worth my time anymore.

Watched Texas State and SMU..tuned in late..Only heard announcers talk about a unity march with players and police organized by a TSU player... That was all good. Then started watching Memphis game.. Announcers started in on talking about BLM ********....I changed the channel and watched the Cornhole Championships.
I hear Eastern Kentucky should have focused on football instead of "enough is enough"...Got asses kicked 59-0....
Its bad enough seeing ******** targeting calls screwing up football....Leave politics etc outside the stadium !!!!!!!!

this week was the “tour championship”, so I watched some. They had a sponsor named the Southern Company. I Googled them and it turns out it’s a giant utility. They ran one lecturing commercial after the other. I’d cancel my account with them if I was a customer. Even funnier, the PGA has a rap song that they run promoting the tour. Apparently they don’t know or, more probably, don’t care, who their audience is.
