No, but I knew Charlie Pell’s ace recruiter who got Clemson, Florida, and oSu all on probation before getting banned by the NCAA.

Yep, we are^^. I hope we get back to recruiting and signing high 4 and 5 star OL.
I know that 3 stars can develop into great players. No doubt. But its nice to have top talent coming in and already a step ahead physically and developmentally.

It is nice if the top talent continues to work hard to improve. If the top talent stops to read press clippings and develops a sense of entitlement, the top talent will soon find that the talent on the rung immediately below him has passed him up with hard work.

Freshman 4 (Barely a 3 when Texas first recruited) Star Karic is backing up former 3 Star Cosmi.

No one, regardless of star rating, will succeed at this level if they stop working and depend on reputation. It goes without saying that players, especially Offensive linemen, must work their tails off to get it done in the trenches.

Everyone goes after the 4 and 5 stars. That is where the odds are for greatness. Yes, lower rated players pan out; likewise, higher rated players can become busts. But the facts are we wanted the Brockemeyers and if any 5 star players sign with us we will be popping corks...

If memory serves correctly the last Texas OT we lost to Stanford, was just drafted in the first round.

Actually Walker is still there and just opted out this year which is weird since Stanford is not playing any games.

He is not just chopped liver, for sure. Texas liked him better than Campbell for a reason.

Re: Brooks and Halletsville High—the last small town / big talent guy we got from that neck of the woods was J Whitt, who has proven to be as good as advertised (although he has suffered multiple injuries). Brooks looks good.

A lot of aggiedom is still prevalent down there where the Texas turkey belt (Cuero, Gonzales, etc.) meets whats left of that part of the Texas rice belt (Eagle Lake, El Campo, etc). If you’re ever driving through that part of the state, Mikeska’s BBQ is worth a stop (yeah, I know, move it to the ‘Rusty’s Grill’ message board Chop...).

After watching the first season of The Wire, I would leave and never look back.
