Arky State 35 - K State 31 Final ULaLa 31 - #23 Iowa State 14 Final West Virginia 56 - Eastern Kentucky 10 Final
31-28 KSU 1:47 left w injury TO.....the Wildcats kicker missed a couple today. Defense does not look good.
I guess it's some kind of solace that we're not the only team who plays down to mediocre opponents. Skylar Thompson looked like an out-of-place HS QB most of the day. I really admire for the way Ark State's coach called the game. Took risks but not idiotic ones that were easy to pinpoint.
Unfortunately the outside world (outside of the Big XII, that is) will use these losses to reinforce their concept that the Big XII consists of "Oklahoma, Texas, and some others." Okie State is lurking in the shadows; if they can play some defense, they could make it tough. But losses to Arky State and ULaLa definitely don't help the conference image.
And during the ULA-LA/ISU coverage someone was kind enough to point out that Texas hasn't won the Big XII since 2009 (part of the perennial "Is this the year for Texas?" conversation)
If we are going to win a lot of games this year then we better concentrate on football more instead of other issues now that the season is starting. I can't inmagine an upset tonight but neither could have Iowa St or Kansas St today.
Under Campbell Iowa State has always started out the year slow and either loses game they shouldnt or gets played tough by someone that they shouldnt. Iowa State in September usually doesnt resemble at all Iowa state later in the year. Now K-State is just reverting to the pre-Snyder--post Snyder--post Snyder II mean.
Texas Tech didn't help our image even though they barely beat a team that has only won 7 games the past three years and was a two point conversion of sending a game into overtime in Lubbock.
Coastal Carolina...really? Oh wait...it was against Kansas. Can you imagine what the Tceh game would have been had they played CC instead of HBU?
