Yeah, we usually have to wait until the TCU game before the cockroaches come out.

So @Dionysus and @LonghornCatholic , will my 56-3 score prediction hold up and win me the highly coveted & prestigious HF game score prediction contest or did someone else get closer?

I need to know or will have trouble sleeping tonight! :headbang:

I couldn't tell. Was there any Eyes of Texas at the end? Looks like the players all just walked off.

Yes, but it started when the players were still shaking hands with the UTEP players

They piped the music for The Eyes as the players were still talking to the other team. Never gave them a chance to assemble in case they wanted to which appeared they didn't. Whole thing was kind of weird. Maybe the administration was clued to the players not wanting to sing and just rushed it to get it over with. That's how it looked but guess we'll find out later.

I guess its time to ponder all Black uniforms, yeah? Time for new traditions it seems!

This is not a political post.

    Wait a minute.

So Tech beat Houston (the Cougars) 35-33?

Or did Tech beat the Baptists (Baylor) 35-33?

Or in some crazy twisted parallel universe did Tech just beat HBU 35-33?!?!?!?

    You mean in football, right?

All in all, it was a very nice game against a clearly overmatched opponent. They met my objectives - a quick start and complete effort by the offense, an agressive defense, and a lot of playing time for the backups in the second half. My other objective was no major injuries - guess we'll have to see the report on that tomorrow.

JWhit just left the stadium in crutches with his knee in a brace. When I said left the stadium, I mean on the sidewalk in front of the stadium walking with some lady friends back to the dorm or car?

He played in more games (one) this season than I thought he would. Damaged goods. Sad but true. Hope he recovers soon.

Help me out here all you long time followers of UT football.

When was the last time the Horns scored a TD on:

THE FIRST PLAY OF THE GAME!!?

I don't remember one in 57 years of watching UT football until tonight vs. UTEP.

I think they did it against Kansas the time they lost.

Yep, in the loss to Kansas, Warrick took a quick out 70+ to the house on our first play, after shedding the CB off him and the safety basically never arrived. And Daje Johnson broke out a 70+ yard run against Baylor on the opening play at some point in his career here. Although I don't know if those were the first play of the game, or only the first play by Texas.

And I also remember Cedric Benson opening the season with a 38 yard TD run in 2004 - after our D forced a punt - because I predicted the distance (though not the score). Somebody had started a sarcastic "predict our first offensive play" thread with something like "Bubble screen for 0 yards". And after a bunch of similar pessimistic posts like "dropped pass", "run up the gut for 1 yard", or "they blitz and sack us" (OK after Greg Davis' performance in our 2003 bowl game, that was probably justified) I was like "whatever guys, Benson is gonna rush for 38 yards on the first play".

I'd just pulled 38 out of the air for no particular reason of course, and had forgotten about it until after the game (I was there) when I got home and read the game thread and somebody had pointed out that in the other thread I had gotten it right on the nose.

I certainly hope that this is a "Take No Prisoners" season for the Horns. Our players and fans deserve it.

Well, WorsterMan, you beat me by one. I got the Longhorns' score on the nose, but I had 7 for UTEP, so my total differential was 4 points. I humbly bow to you on this one.
If you take the prediction win and add $3.50 to it, you can get a cup at Starbucks. :smile1:

Just curious....Did anyone think the roughing out of bounds call near end of game was as bogus as I did?
