The way that 68 team made it to the Cotton Bowl that year is never talked about, but I hope that motel maid in Waco never had to work again.

Kind of surprised the 2004 Ok State game didn't make it on that list. Down 35-7, we roared back in the 2nd half for a 56-35 W.

Definitely in the honorable mentions. I thought about that one, also thought about the '99 win over Nebraska, the '03 win over Kansas State when VY's ankle must have been rubber because it should have cracked in half, the '99 win over OU when Texas came back to win after being behind 17-0 (supposedly because we had found a fake OU play card and defense kept being out of position), the '01 win over UNC in the Cole Pittman game, I could go on and on. As I enter my sixth decade on this earth I have to say being a Texas fan has been a lot of fun!

It wasn't a pretty game, and the weather was cold and windy. But the best game I saw in person was the 95 game against ATM.

The Ags had been on a 10 plus year run - winning 10 of 11 games.

To those younger fans on here, that period was the hardest to take as a Texas fan, probably ever. It wasn't just that the teams were often terrible (they were worse under the Charlie Strong Experience), but the Ags were running around whipping up on Texas and dominating the state.

The game was at Kyle field, where Texas hadn't won since 83, and where the Ags had a good home record, mostly due to only playing bad teams from the declining SWC there.

The game was a low scoring, defensive struggle, Texas up 6-0 at halftime. Then late in the game, Texas was driving, close to the goal line, 3rd down, and ran the ball. I was sitting in the other end zone so was 100+ yards away from the action and couldn't see much, but I remember seeing the guy with the ball stay upright, and then stop running, so I assumed he scored, and let out the loudest "TEXAS!!!" I could muster. Was in with all Ags so it carried over the back half of the end zone. Good times.

Freddie's surgery was actually just a few days after the game. He spent the next three weeks after the surgery learning how to walk on crutches so he could be on the sidelines for the Cotton Bowl game versus Notre Dame.

2005 Ohio State....Game Day was there and so was I. After dealing with their hostile young fans for 2 days, I was so happy for this win. Pregame outside the stadium at the game day set I spied a Longhorn flag in the midst of the OSU crowd. I finally worked my way to that group and felt like I was with the Marines on Iwo Jima. Afterwards the Game Day crew was still active and a few Longhorn Band decided to serenade them. I was just as proud of them as the Team. Being with them was amazing.

    As far as in person:

    1) 1970 - UT 20 UCLA 17 Phillips to Speyer bomb wins it with seconds to go. Pushes winning streak to 23.
    2) 1989 Texas-OU Walker catch beats OU for first time in forever.
    3) 1970 - UT 42 Arky 7 It was supposed to be The Big Shootout II, but it didn't happen.

Interesting. I never heard of him again. UW is a good school so it is difficult to imagine he would be that "homesick" as Seattle was a much better place for a young black athlete then. Amazing or just forgot he attended SWTSU. Glad he did well in college because he sure won that game for UW.

Thanks for jogging the old brain cells. I forgot it was a shared SWC title. Where was the Sugar Bowl then? At Tulane?

But Mackey killed us on the deciding short drive. Just could not tackle him. UW was a good team with a 9-2 record like Texas, but Texas was favored but could not get the job done. Skansi the UW WR was the MVP.

Texas ran the ball better but turned it over too often. UW had the better passing game.

wasn't lucky enough to make that game but do remember it well. One of our neighbors (Bobby Moses) who played End made a crucial 4th down tackle of Joe that saved the day.

Would be nice to see reruns of that game on The Longhorn Channel!

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

That 1965 Orange Bowl vs. Bama was broadcast on NBC, which has the rights to the game and I suspect LHN-ESPN / ABC cannot or will not get access to the rights to broadcast it again.

That is also probably why LHN does not show any of the many UT Cotton Bowl victories - those games were all broadcast on CBS in those days.

The most dominating performance I ever saw in person was the 2005 Big XII Championship Game vs. Colorado in Houston. I've never seen a team get destroyed in every possible way like Colorado did that day. Texas and Vince scored at will and could have easily scored 100 if they wanted to. Not only did the offense score, but defense and special teams scored as well.

This was a conference championship game vs. a ranked opponent yet it was more dominating than your typical SEC vs Coastal Carolina woodshed type game.

I know many people find these types of games boring but I am mesmerized by that game and will stop by and watch it when it comes on LHN.

That one was insane. We hit 70 points with 8 1/2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.
