Let’s see.... who was the dude who predicted 62-10?? I’ve never been more disgusted!

To make the assessment that Ash is a poor defensive coordinator after one Big 12 game is absurd. Let's wait, shall we?

That fall/hit combo would for sure have killed any of the rest of us.

That’s probably reasonable but what we saw today was very troubling. In terms of overrunning plays and failing to wrap up, we saw a clinic on how not to play defense today.

So did I. My prediction of 63-3 was half spot-on.

    My confession:

in January I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. Sometime near the 4:00 mark and trailing by eight, I decided I needed to give my heart a rest. So I changedthe station I freely admit that yes, I walked away on my team, but I did it to preserve my health. And because I didn’t watch, the Horns were able to come back and win. So you see, I didn’t quit on my team so much as I took one for the team. And I willingly made that sacrifice.

No. We have seen this all before. No tackling. No coverage. Against a lower end Big 12 team.

There is no reason to have any faith in this guy. He made a name off of defending Big 10 defenses under a very good Head Coach. Remember Charlie Strong? Tom Herman isn't a good Head Coach.

This was Tom giving his buddy a promotion. He didn't go find the best antispread DC. He promoted a failed HC from Rutgers.

Also, if you didn't notice Herman was calling plays again. That wasn't Yurcich's offense.

I think for the rest of the season, we onside kick after every score! The idea is to Try to keep our offense on the field and the defense sitting down.

The guy won a national championship as a DC. You can say that came under a good coach but it's a fact. A lot of good defenses played terrible this week (like LSU) and it has a lot to do with a lack of preparation time due to Covid. These air-raid offenses are hard enough to stop but when you combine it with less preparation time bad things happen. As I said, let's wait a few games and cut out the knee-jerk reactions.

So did Strong but he couldn't field a defense at Texas. Same with Herman who isn't looking very good.

It isn't COVID. Give me a break. This was game 2 against a very bad Tech team.

Strong was a head coach here, not a DC. Yes, Covid has limited and changed practice time. It may take time. You could end up being right but to make a blanket statement after one Big-12 game is silly.

What a sloppy win! Great comeback when the chips were down. Horrible tacking, leaky pass coverage, inconsistent OL play, too many penalties, inconsistent Special Teams. BUT - it goes into the WIN column. I sincerely hope the practices next week are focused and intent - can't expect to get away with sloppy play forever.

A lot of national championship runs have a game like this along the way. In 2005 we had to come from behind vs Okie Lite and last year LSU had a crappy team take them to the wire in Austin...

Ohio State in 2001/2002 almost lost like 5 games then beat the at the time greatest team in history Miami for the title so anything is possible right?

On the bright side when this game is replayed for the 50th time on the LHN in the next 2 years a couple of people will watch.

It is true that an unexpected, miraculous win can have the effect of changing a season. It could happen, both for the Cowboys (about whom I don’t care) and the Horns.

To summarize, we saw a repeat of the last 4 years, except with more talented kids and staff providing the same results. This team could possibly play well and beat OU in the Cotton Bowl, but the chance of beating them again in December has a 4.6023% chance of happening. The chances of losing to another team that we are 20 points better than is a virtual stone cold lock. At aggy they would call it a tradition, here it is just a hobby.

Is anyone really still buying what this guy is selling? I really, truly do want Cougar High Tom to make me eat my words and be a raging success. Of course, I also really, truly want to believe in the Loch Ness Monster. The difference is, people have at least claimed to see one of them.

I don't know how much experience Ash has in dealing with hurry-up offense but that type of offense is difficult to deal with. The defense has little time to read their keys. Hurry-up offense is effective. Each receiver has to be smothered. If a db plays off even a little it's easy to make a quick cut in the opposite direction he'll be open and if the QB makes quick concise passes it's hard to stop. I think you have to play bump and run and stick to his hip as best as possible. It would help if the defensive lineman would jump with raised hands to block passes, maybe tip a couple of balls. A lot of those passes had a low trajectory.

With about 5 min left I went out on a limb and predicted we'd come back and win: We Did.
The fat lady stood up opened her mouth in the last 3 minutes and I told her, on this thread, "Sit down and shut up."
Since I made those unusual, but correct assessments, I reserve the right to make another that may be surprising, but I believe is valid.

The defense deserves credit for making TWO KEY STOPS IN CRUNCH TIME!!
    1. With 40 seconds left, plenty of time to march down the field and kick a field goal, Ash's defense STOPPED ttu cold;
    2. In overtime, after we go up 7, the defense STUFFED ttu 4 straight plays and we walk away victorious.

Lets be honest, how many of you thought that ttu would be stopped cold on both of those possessions. Not many, and who could blame you?

I admit, I was fearful of ttu getting something on the board in one or the other of those possessions. I mean, after the way their offense went through our D like sh-t through a goose for 59 minutes....

With a humble heart, I take my hat off to these defenders, they were a brick wall when they absolutely had to be for 40 seconds and again in OT.

Way to dig deep and hang tough D. We wouldn't have won without you!

Blind hog finds an acorn once in a while. Onside kicks are blind luck these days, and we squirreled one out. Without that stroke of luck we lose to Tech because of poor tackling, poor coverage, poor special teams, and sporadic offense. Hopefully Bijan learned a lesson about hurdling.......
Big 12 looks to be weak this year, and its champion may well be left out of the ESPN Invitational final four. SEC, ACC are locks, as is the Big 10.... The Pack 12, Notre Dame, #2 SEC or #2 ACC team looks to take the fourth spot. A bright spot was Sam was cool and calm leading Texas back in the clutch.

Rewatching the game and Ingram looks better than I've ever seen him.

A lot of ragging on the defense, deserved. The tackling was the biggest issue in my opinion.

However, the main problem I saw was the OL. 100 yards in penalties mostly on the OL against 15 for TTU. Could not protect Sam against a 3 man rush. There were too many runs stuff for no or negative yards. Texas looked un-coached in football fundamentals, blocking and tackling.

I am sure the crowd noise caused all the pre snap movement from the OL.
