    Stop acting as if these players are doing this for no reason. Their obviously is a problem within the song that people have a problem with. These are minority kids so don't expect them to stand for something like this especially with everything that has happened this year. I'm sorry to tell you but it's 2020 and the "new" generation is the future for Texas. [offensive comment removed] The way this fan base has came for these players is absolutely disgusting. You can't expect to win when your telling players to leave.

    no one on this board really cares about volleyball players kneeling/standing/etc/etc. Football is the sport in Texas and on campus and the stand the players are taking on The Eyes is bs. That snowball headed down hill will pick up steam if you try to ban everything that was done invented/started by a racist, because by these jokers' standards everyone is racist and we should just bow down.....and that's bs too.

    Your/their premise is bs. Nothing in the words of The Eyes says anything about oppressing anyone black or otherwise, just letting the opposing team know that the team and the student body and the alumni in attendance have their eyes upon you and it's all the live long day (holy crap I just went racial that is so racist I can't believe I just typed that).

    I'm sorry but everyone complaining. Didn't you all say after the first game that you were done supporting texas football???? Lmao if you are done then please inform me why you are still watching the games? Or even discussing what these players do? If your done be done and don't worry about what players do.

    Because we care about our traditions, the players caring about our traditions and trying to win more than they lose and look good trying, and if a group is going to protest something, make sure it's valid like the name of a building after someone who actively opposed blacks, the naming of a field after our two Heisman winners.... but not to refuse to stand for the Eyes, the school song that has nothing to do with oppression and everything to do with pride in your school. That's what ticks everyone off. If you're going to complain/protest, then make sure it makes rational sense/has basis.

    Oh Jacob, you are something. Of course the kids have free agency but remember they choose to attend the University of Texas and one can therefore presume all it stands for, otherwise they can choose to move on but they do NOT have the right to walk in and alter all that is Texas.

    Yes we can. Protest on the west mall out of uniform, but shut up on the field and play football or play somewhere else. Why is it it seems only Texas is having these problems? Because Herman let's the players run the show. Now that he has gone down this path he can't take it back. The next coach can level set expectations, but Tommy screwed himself here.

    Sonny boy,you must have a hard time understanding. I said I would as soon not win if it sacrifices our traditions. The players on this team knew about the traditions before they accepted the scholarship. If they dont like it here then leave. The school shouldnt have to change for them.

    Bud, I’m 58- been through the ups and downs of being a psychotic UT fan.
    But the ONLY player who puts his body on the line is Sam. I know I am missing a few, but I argued with many here before taking up for the team until last week.
    I’ve never felt, ever as in never, that UT was full of kids who embarrassed the university- until last week.
    Malcontents and charlatans.
    I feel badly for Sam. These are teenaged boys who , like me at 19 was equally moronic, but the difference between us is I didn’t have the privilege of playing at UT for free education. These knuckleheads are an embarrassment and should join the debate team to give their opinions instead of the football team.
    I’d gladly have 5 years of complete meltdown, to start over.

    Really? Go talk to Saban about that.
    He wouldn’t put up with this nonsense and last I checked, he seems to win games.

    And these players, the ones he stuck his neck out for, left him high and dry.
    Shows their lack of character, their disloyalty and thier immaturity.
    Tom, I really like you- but lesson learned here my friend. You just got the shaft from the players you claimed, without any factual data, that the fans held racist views against.
    You backed the wrong horse.

    You know, maybe we’re being too hard on Jacob and Tommy Boy. After all, Tommy Boy loves his players. Really loves them. Hugs ‘em. Kisses them. We’re talking genuine affection. How can we second guess that type of raw, genuine emotion?

    And when players feel loved by their HC; when they feel understood by their HC; when their causes are supported by their HC, they repay it in spades, with effort and focus on the field. We see that every week.

    Oh wait. We’re discussing “Texas” football. Never mind.

    (I wonder how much Nick “loves” his players?)

    There was nothing wrong with the song until they were told it was racist. Except for walk-ons, every single player had other offers. If it is so obviously racist why did they sign with Texas? The song hasn’t changed. No one made them.

    Not trying to join a worthless debate with someone who won't get it, but I agree with this exactly. I have been very upset at football coaching before--I was in the Cotton bowl for those terrible blowouts to OU, and I remember UCLA demolishing us, and some more--but this is very different. I am honestly not just wanting a coaching change; I am reconsidering whether I even am going to remain attached to UT football at all.

    And, BTW, I have pictures and videos of ME, as a kid, just the same as Sam Ehlinger, in UT pajamas etc. and as I mentioned before, I have as deep of connections to UT as anyone.

    {for example, I have sat in the exact same seats for home games for 50 years. Yes, 50}
    {did not buy the tickets this year}

    I like the part where Herman encourages the team to sing The Eyes of Texas. I think he also “encourages” the defense to tackle and the offensive line to block.

    As loony as A&M is, would they tolerate traditions like the anti-UT song not being sung or at least observed at games?

    I know many of us are holding hard and tight to the idea that our way of thinking and traditions are the only option and either get on our bus or get the hell off the 40 or portal yourself or whatever. But I also think there is a generational gap that is bigger that isn't going to make these things go away by thinking we can get a handful of players to transfer. JJ may be a troll, hell he may be Aggie PropJoe for all I know but I do think that line of thinking matches our younger alum in their 20's and 30's. Winds are changing.

    I've been vocal and consistent that the Eyes issues is BS and Hartzell, CDC and TH have all handled it poorly. I agree they should have put their foot down from the start. And I don't like the way our Soccer teams, VB Team or Drum Major are handling it but again it isn't just our FB team, it's the world today.

    Don't pretend social justice movements aren't happening and dividing other teams. The Sul Ross statue is a hot button in Collie Station and even the great Nick Saban marched with his team in defense of "social justice and equality".

    I wonder what the posts on here would have been had TH led the team on a march down MLK with players wearing "Defend Black Lives" shirts and Caden Sterns holding up a black power fist poster.

    Hartzell having a panel Investigate the issue of the Eyes is the stupidest lamest cop out yet.

    Btw did Saban rip fans and Alums? How about Dabo? Any other coach? There is a huge difference in the approaches of a winning coach in control of his team and what is going on here.
