The lights went out. Now California might let these gas plants stay open

“We cannot sacrifice reliability as we move forward in this transition,” Newsom said last week, as he urged Californians to use less electricity to avoid the need for more rolling blackouts. “We’re going to be much more aggressive in focusing our efforts and our intention in making sure that is the case.”

"We failed to predict and plan [for] these shortages, and that’s simply unacceptable," the governor added."

They failed to plan because the zealots do not care about ordinary people. They say they do; but they don't. When politics takes over, YOU FAIL TO PLAN.

When they keep voting in these buffoons, they ought to plan to fail.

From that article: “ not least because they know that the adoption of those policies will cost them less than others.”

that is what I believe is the reason for the affluent (ultra affluent) promotion of insane policies - 90% tax rates and Green New Deal.

My father was stationed just outside of Bury Saint Edmonds during WWII. There is a bar close to the college where Americans use to carve their names on the ceiling. His old air tower is a museum.

Yep that’s it. The ball gunner and my father wrote about each one of their missions over Germany, I created a word document and sent it to the museum.

Wow, my dad was in the 8th army air corps and flew in and out of England too. Wonder if he was ever there - damn you’re making me emotional, sorry.

0D69C3E2-D36A-4D60-9836-1B78E3FA3E25.jpeg With widespread adoption of gen 3/4 nuclear, US could be <10% global CO2 emissions.

That's an informative graph, but US, Europe, India and China apparently add up only to 68%, so there could be another line of 32%, up there above China, that represented the rest of the world. The point being how very little even a 10% decrease in our CO2 output would have on the world.

So, for example, if we even cut 50% of our output--surely a complete destruction of our economy under current conditions--that would cut the world output by 6%. So, if man-made global warming even accounted for half of the observed warming (which factor is purely a guess by ANYONE, as any honest person has to admit) our all-in economic self-destruction would cut global warming effect by 3%, so that instead of a 1 degree-per-century rise in temperatures, we might have fended off .03 degrees by the year 2120.

Oh, heck, why not really go all-in? If all 300 million Americans just committed suicide, by 100 years from now, we will have fended off .06 degrees. That would probably satisfy someone, although even the polar bears would never be able to detect a temperature difference, even with a thermometer.

Hmmm. Hadn't thought of that. Wind energy has no wide spread, industrial use at this point.
