Apparently we are Miller's fav school

Texas put an offer on the table for 2022 Tyler Legacy running back Jamarion Miller today. I spoke with the four-star back this afternoon and the offer was a big one. His brother Damion Miller was once a commit in the 2017 class but didn't make it to Austin due to grades. Jamarion is extremely excited about the opportunity but he said he plans to take his time. I'm going to take mine and see what plays out, but I would feel rather confident in putting a 247Sports Crystal Ball pick in right now. Even before the offer, we were given strong indications that Texas would be the favorite for him. He told Horns247 in July that Texas is the school he grew up watching most. I'm going to let things play out a bit before putting a pick in, but I think it's fair to say that Texas jumped right into the lead.

247 updated its 2022s - here are a couple notes from Mike Roach --

-- Quinn Ewers remains at No. 1 overall...
-- Domani Jackson remains at No. 4 for overall. Texas has the chance to make a big impression with him coming to Austin for a self-guided visit this weekend. The Longhorns are definitely in the top group here. While Clemson and Michigan might have a bit of a lead, there’s no counting Texas out as of right now.
-- Caleb Burton dropped one spot to No. 9 after some movement above him. While the Del Valle prospect certainly earned his lofty ranking, he won’t have a chance to improve upon it after suffering a season ending injury. Burton has a hold on the top wide receiver spot in the state, but he will face stiff competition.
-- Malick Sylla holds steady at No. 13. The Katy edge rusher has mountains of potential and a frame to really dream on. His junior season will be pivotal for his future ranking, but he’s off to a strong start so far. Sylla’s hold on the top defensive end spot in the state will be challenged by an edge prospect from Dallas.
-- Duncanville’s Omari Abor comes in at No. 19 and will challenge Sylla for his throne. Abor is also off to a strong start and has a bit more size and athleticism in his corner. Abor is one of the best in-person evals I’ve had so far this year, and he could see himself work up the list with a strong year.
-- Devon Campbell checks in at No. 22 after a ten-spot drop. Campbell entered the year a bit heavy and hasn’t quite had the juice he showed in his sophomore season. Still, Campbell is a dominant force on the field capable of burying any player he gets his hands on.
-- Harold Perkins makes his debut in the Top247 at No. 30, and I’d guess that he isn’t done working his way up. Perkins is a unicorn of sorts who excels on both sides of the ball and shows incredible athleticism from the linebacker position. He’s kind of a rare gem when it comes to finding linebacker prospect in state.
-- Donovan Green remains one of the highest rated tight ends in Texas in recent history. Green is closing in on releasing a list of top schools, and at No. 88 in the country, the Longhorns need to remain in this race. Green has the type of skill to change an offense as a weapon in the seam and the red zone.
-- Texas commit Phaizon Wilson remains a 4-star prospect but falls outside of the Top247. He had almost no film from his sophomore season, but he should have a better reel from his junior year.

Caleb Burton with a CB to tOSU

If they steal he and Ewers then perhaps we should just give up football all together?

He blames Covid for clouding his judgement? I wouldn't blame him for just being honest and say he doesn't want to jump into that dumpster fire in Austin.

I wish I could say I'm surprised, but really I'm not at all. He commits which causes Milroe to jump to Bama then a short few weeks later jumps ship. Tom has really screwed this up.

When the best player on the team sings the eyes all by himself on the field and there are no teammates, what message do you think that sends? Uh, we didn’t coordinate. When was that ever a problem for the last 100 years.

    f**k YOU TOM HERMAN!!!

One more ******* thing. Recall how all the recruiting gurus were sticking up for the BLM players? I wonder how they feel now that they don’t have a job at a major program. ******* dumbasses. Maybe these gurus realize what they have done and start dunking on the BLM players.

Guarantee that has absolutely nothing to do with him decommiting. He left because let's be honest, Herman has been here 4 years and Sam has not got any better. I hate to say it but it's true. Our lack of development is the reason he left. That and we are simply not winning. It's time for CDC to make the right choice and fire Herman and hire Urban Meyer. Someone with a proven record and has great developmental ability. Herman does not have that and it's why we are losing in state recruits and not leading for any big name targets

Everything you say is true. But the other stuff cannot be discounted. The turmoil is a fact. I think UT is still in an uneasy transition period as an institution in their mission/vision concerning the past. I don't know if UT has more statues/songs that are a reflection of the past than other universities. I haven't researched what is happening at other schools but it seems UT is in a unique position of being accused of many things. New recruits know all of this.

Have all the SEC schools atoned for the past? Are they all fully purified?

    I don't know.

Very true. This program is in absolute chaos. Within the program it seems the players are on the same page with social issues. The fans and players are at odds and then you have examples of above where you have "fans" just outright disrespecting parents, players and recruits. That is a huge problem that recruits actually see and could influence their decision. Everyone from fans to coaches need to get their shh together because I love this University and it sucks to see so much bad happening because I know for a fact I cannot root for another team. Honestly it starts with coaching first and foremost and I have tried supporting Herman and have had high hopes but it's been 4 years and it's time to make a change.

From a high level, I think we can look at how difficult it is for a program that slides into mediocrity by remembering Nebraska. USC is not what they used to be. There may be rebuttals to that point of view but UT has been rebuilding since the Alabama loss in the national championship game. We just can't get any real traction. People said that sort of thing (me being one of them) in defense of Charlie's struggles. Now, it's Herman's turn. Is it really him? Well, I'm sure there are recruitniks on this board who probably will tell us our recruiting has been top ten. So that leaves Herman and this off the field stuff.

Herman fired both coordinators last year. That's a huge change. It's on him for picking the wrong guys. Now we have new systems in place. So it stands to reason there will be a period of transition on the field. We'd have to believe he picked the right guys this time even though he failed out of the gate on this point. I personally don't have any reason to believe in him.

I think it's time to change, but I'm not the one buying him out and I'm not the one being held accountable for the 3rd firing in the past 15 years or so.
