UNC, Villanova, Gonzaga, UK all confirmed on the schedule this year. Shaka must know something we don't because you schedule like this unless you expect to win big!

    Color me excited!!!!

But just think all of those teams have circled Texas as a sure victory.

Where did you hear Gonzaga, Villanova and UNC are confirmed? I know we might have the chance to play UNC in the Maui invitational but are we playing them for sure outside of the tournament?

The Gonzaga game is not happening this season. It has been rescheduled for next year.

We get Kentucky in the Big 12/SEC challenge. How fortunate.

I'm thinking we're about 10-8 in conference, tops. We were kind of relying on that watered down nonconference outside of the Maui stuff and Gonzaga to help us get towards 20 wins.

I guess there's always a chance that Brown could come in and be some kind of elite wizard to steal a handful of wins away from conference games we should have lost, and since this is a weird year to begin with, anything's possible.

Hi, JJ, saw you over here and wondered what you thought when Shaka said his team was upset because Donald Trump got elected? Said it affected them. What's the saying about the honor and traditions of Texas will not be entrusted to the faint of heart? There were other basketball programs that had black players on their team that managed to win 25 plus games that season. Guess they weren't "faint of heart" over an election.

I think we win the tournament again.* Just like we closed out the last complete season we played.

    *I'm not saying which tournament...

seems like we start every year in the top 25 only to end up a .500 team. Even with all of the experience coming back I have little faith Shaka can get it done.

Ramey with 20 points and Coleman with 17 in a big margin win over our South Texas brethren to open the season. Nice shooting #19 Horns!

Looked pretty sloppy to me despite the score. Outhustled in rebounding, nearly twice as many turnovers. I have no doubt there will be no accountability just like a TH coached FB team and the same issues will remain. Talent may blow out UTRGV but the B12 will roast Texas playing like a bunch of individuals.

Maybe I have a different perspective due to my experience in the business world. You see, I've seen employees celebrate after hitting record production numbers while violating safety protocol and ignoring the company SOP's. The violation of safety protocol often resulted in amputations. Usually it was fingers, but I've seen the loss of legs and a death. All that profit from the production record gone in a flash, not to mention the permanent disability of a good employee. An even bigger factor to me.

Then there's all the customer complaints for failure to follow SOP. Ironically, the production numbers would be just as good if they following the SOP's carefully and there would be no safety or quality issues.

It's the same way in sports. If you don't take care of the little things you'll get beat, often by teams of lesser talent. That's the trademark of Shaka and TH coached teams. They certainly don't appear to be coached on the little things and certainly aren't held accountable for failure to execute the little things. I.E., take care of policy and procedure. I see it all the time in the business world, managers more concerned about being liked than respected, which results in them achieving neither.

Did you watch the women's game? Now that's what I call coaching. Vic coaching them constantly on the little things. A few times he jumped on players for something very minor which was surprising even to me. Texas may win a lot of games this season on talent alone, but it will be sad to think about how good they could be.

Excellent point! The coach isn't supposed to do any coaching during the first game.

Loved the win against a 2nd tier team. This is a talented group. Brown is special.

But I saw much of the same as the game wore on. Sloppy, too much dribbling and not enough passing to the open guy; not enough movement away from the ball; the player with the ball suddenly going one on one with the result often a turnover or a poor "desperation" shot.

I love the athleticism of the team. That alone will get a lot of wins. But we need more than that to get to the level I'm hoping they'll attain.

Not ragging on the team just telling you what I saw.

Movement away from the ball is probably still the biggest area for improvement. This calls for discipline, conditioning, and desire. I sure like the shooting though.
