WV starting kicker out for season ... could be interesting to see if they go for it more on 4th down. their back up kicker ... is Casey Legg https://www.si.com/college/westvirg...-wvu-kicker-evan-staley-is-out-for-the-season
Not to toot my own horn but see my earlier post - I haven't run the numbers but I think W Va has trouble in the red zone. It has similar yards per game to Texas but 11 fewer points per game. This signals a team that has trouble punching the ball in for the TD when the field gets small. A backup kicker may mean W Va going for it on 4th downs from the 20-35 yard lines instead of kicking.
Yurcich -“We can be operating at a much higher level.” (clean up penalties) RoJo the power back, Bijan the speedster. No Ingram.
Never good to have a RB out. But remember...RJ was RB1 and rightly so til he started nursing some injuries and them protecting him. I have preferred RJ and Bijan to KI26 but as noted above Bijan needs more blocking experience and I do like KIs pass catching greatly (LSU drop notwithstanding). We also dont fully know RJs health ATM so theres that.
Looks like it's Jerrett Smith, Jeran Watkins, or Gabriel Watson in a pinch for RB. 2020 Football Roster - University of Texas Athletics
I would like BIJAN Targeted for passes out into the flat or wheel route more often. Get him open in space and let him juke somebody for good yardage. How come every other team can get their RBs to go through the line for a long run for a touchdown, like 40 plus, like Donta Foreman use to do? Have we done that yet?
Now if I make a statement like "ain't no way Texas is going to win this one" then Texas will win. That's my history this season. Consider that the statement is made!
I miss the days when the starting RB got 25+ carries. I miss stat lines like this: 28 Carries, 167 Yards; 4 Receptions, 43 Yards; Zero Fumbles Oh the Good Ole Days!
In fairness it does seem like Bijan has had his share of shoestring tackles by the last man with a chance. I think he is going to break soon. I can't wait!
He's opting out this season. As far as I know he's still on the team and planning to be here in 2021, but we'll see. It wouldn't shock me for him to transfer.
I just watched old Nebraska 95’ highlights. If I coached Texas with Sam we would run 50 times a game. And practice run blocking a lot more. Guess I’m old school. It just works.
I've been harping on this^^^^^at home for weeks. We have big plays out of the backfield with kI and Bijan open to us and have most of the year if we can set em up and block em. Maybe out of a two back set with RJ in and keep him in to block? With KI out...who I believe to be a great pass catcher, this^^^may be best bet....or try with Bijan only in and tell the oline if they dont hold their blocks long enough you're going to kill them.
I want to see Roschon throw the ball as a RB on a trick play ... why are we saving our secret trick play?
