Tom put Tom's job on the rocks. Poor coaching moves, poor personnel moves, poor moves trying to stroke the players and recruits while running over the school and fans with a bus.
I’m in your camp RunP. I can’t fathom Stoops going from the OU emblem coach to be the coach of their natural rival. I know the argument that’s it’s all business but I’m not seeing it. It’s a simple integrity issue to me.
I think our best options are Meyer and Shanahan (already making 9 mill a year) but we already have answers back on those I'm assuming. Then it goes to Campbell and Venables... I'd love to see what a Mike Leach or the Mullet at a school like UT could accomplish. Next man up...
“School like UT” comments in today’s world always amuse me. Other than $$ just what is so positive about UT, regarding football I’m meaning. Don’t get irritated here, I’m still a fan just a realistic one about our state of affairs.
My list is very short, but it would have to stretch single spaced from my house to Memorial Stadium, (145 miles) before you find Venables on it, and then it would be the custodian at my elemtary school, not Brent.
Agree about BV!! Who else would be on the absolutely NO list? How long would Meyer stay on board? What have I missed regarding Shanahan?
Texas High School football recruiting, basically unlimited money, traditions and facilities. The level of stupidity Herman has displayed with wasting those assets and poorly preparing players will not deter a great coach.
I can't fathom why anyone thinks Bob Stoops would even consider it. "We're Texas" is a thing of the past.
I don’t think CDC walks up to Herman, gently puts his hand on his shoulder just before sliding his arms around Tom’s neck and puts him in a sleeper hold unless Urban is on board. We’re stuck with him another year. Urban or bust.
Herman is not done. Since 2009, the Athletic Director(s) have decided mediocrity is our best option. So, we have become mediocre. No urgency, no team spirit, no heart. And that is ok. It is our new mantra- UT- The Place where mediocrity Shines.
When was th4e last time an Athletic Director at Texas hired a football coach? Was it Jack Price or before that?
Massive drops in attendance and money will change how they feel about mediocrity. Herman ostracizing alumni will not work. Ask John Mackovick who was a better coach.
Sure thing, just like Herman "cruised by" mighty Maryland, not once but TWICE Nothing is a "sure thing" with Tom Herman.
This comment surprises me. Start with the third most wins in CF history, three less than tOSU. Or win percentage, again third, at 0.705. Next look at recruiting, and being smack dab in the middle of the most fertile ground in the country. How about the fan base? There’s a reason why Texas usually leads the nation in revenue, and licensing fees. Texas is an elite, blue blood program. Historically, when you think about college football, Texas is in the conversation. I’m not talking about the past 10 years. I’m talking about the past 100 years. Some ask, “who would want to coach at the pressure cooker that is Texas? I ask, “who wouldn’t?“ If you believe in yourself, you want this job.
yeah— besides all that, two appearances in the NC game in the past 15 years, a large stadium that is being improved as we speak, a broadcasting network in place, a good city to live in and recruit to, a huge fan base, scholarships to hand out that have academic value, good weather, a built-in semi-bowl game with OU every October, plus probably more that you didn’t list or I didn’t
As long as Meyer would stay 4 years he could right the ship and get us back on track. Win a couple of CCG's and I'd be thrilled.
Bill, Tom improved us from Charlie no doubt. But I feel pretty confident we have seen Tom's ceiling, and it isn't MNC contention.
I’m not a BMD but I do my part! I’m on the “sidelines” but get the “insight”.TH IS TOAST! CDC has a tough job now! TH and Shaka are BOTH in trouble ( obviously).....CDC = this is his moment! = it truly is!
