    Projection: Texas vs. Mizzou

Will Tom Herman still be coaching the Longhorns at this point? Friday's home loss to Iowa State was a tough one to stomach for the Longhorns brass and led to immediate questions about Herman's future after the game after two questionable fourth-down decisions wound up costing Texas. Still, this could be a 7-3 team heading to bowl season against first-year coach Eli Drinkwitz and the Tigers. Solid matchup possibility here pitting former Big 12 rivals.

“Could be” is relevant. Darn I’ve become so cynical, I hate it.

I like it. Four years later all of our ‘progress’ comes full circle. Tom Herman deserves to go out the same way he came in: a meaningless bowl game and against Missouri no less. Hope he’s been working on his moves.

After the season we've had on and off the field (and the misery of losses may not be over), my apathy about a bowl game disturbs me...

We're seriously looking at a 5-5 Texas team.

Only if TH stays. If Yurcich is interim coach or Ash, either one really. We could go 7-3. With TH, 5-5. Team won’t play hard for TH. I’m convinced of that. They’ll keep it close, and lose late with TH as HC.

I think it would be hilarious if we hired UM and forced Tom to coach through the bowl game (since we're paying him anyway) with UM by his side in an "advisor" role. What could go wrong? :smile1: Maybe UM could shove the binder right where the sun doesn't shine.

Screw thte bowl game, Tom Herman cannot be gone soon enough for me. The stench that represents his time here will last for a couple of decades.

The rest of season should be used to see if younger players are ready to step up. I want to see Thompson and Card with meaningful time. The only reason to go to a bowl is extra practices and playing time for younger players. With Cosmi opting out and several others likely to as well, there is opportunity to see some others at positions to see what they may show. Texas can still win 8 games for what that’s worth.

Yes, hoping for and grasping for 1 or 2 more wins to salvage a "decent" season record and a more "decent" bowl invitation is a losers approach.. aggyish. We've been here far too much the last 10 years...

Frankly, I'm tired of this ******** merry-go-round... BMD's and Cigar Chompers need to step up and get this over with.

None of us want all the drama and turmoil of a ANOTHER HC change but unfortunately it's time... time to make a good and calculated change ya'll.

    Worster,

I fear there will be few, if any "decent bowls". A few have already cancelled. I hope that Chris will look at a bowl, investigate to make sure .they can meet their financial obligation, then accept.

I'm not looking for the school to make money. Reward the kids for a most difficult season, but don't lose money.

If the looney tunes in California don't allow a game in The Rose Bowl, where do they move the game? New location may not have the beauty, but it will most assuredly be better run.

What if Urban is not interested in anything but stiffing TH and doesn’t want the job?

I know many of you are looking for Hope and Change but what if it is just a mirage and we end up eating dust?

I believe Texas will win next two and likely play Texas Bowl vs Mizzou or LSU.

On another note....many pundits have ou vs aggy in a NYD bowl...fyi

I agree with everything you say Worster. When we hired TH, I told many Longhorn friends that he better be the right guy because we can't keep doing this every 3-5 years. He clearly is not the right guy, but I have a queasy feeling that we are stuck with him another year. Too bad we didn't let LSU or aggy beat us to him. However, nothing is to say we would have hired the "right guy" in that circumstance either.

Nah, if cdc gets the right guy we’ll be coming up roses in a couple of years. Ummm, roses smell pretty sweet.

I told Billie Powers that he had set us back 20 years. We are about to enter year seven since that face to face conversation. We are three years away from daylight, but if I miss it by a decade, I'll be happy.

The political problems fostered and fertilized by Herman will last for years.

There is more than just wins and losses on the field and upset fans. The stadium renovations have to be paid for, empty boxes are as big a problem as empty seats. Revenues are down this year due to reduced seating at the stadium for games. So the budget planned for 2020 took a hit. Add, the poor performances and missing out on the college playoffs...again...and that's a major problem. Included in that is the keep or discharge Herman. In four seasons, for the regular season, TH has posted 6, 9, 7 and so far this year 5 win seasons. He's done well in Bowl games, and that's good, but most fans want a Conference Championship and a shot at the Playoffs. Mack played for the '09 season NC, but lost, then had 4 mediocre seasons including 1 sub .500 finish in 2010. Macks last 4 years posted wins of 5, 7, 8 and 8. He retired, but was about to be shown the door. Keeping TH another season or 2 or 3, doesn't make since. Mack won at leas 2 conference titles and 1 national title. His first four year regular season record were 8, 9, 9 and 10 wins. His team was all together and not wanting to opt out of the last few games of a season. Mack was personable, anyone could go visit with him. Tom isn't and he blames the players when he points out errors and ultimately they, not him, are responsible of a loss. Mack wanted to correct errors and took responsibility saying "That's on me and we have to do a better job of coaching." As far as bowl games, Tom has a perfect win record in three bowl games, I'll definitely give him that. He knocked off Georgia and Utah convincingly as well as Missouri. But as of late, he can't beat the teams he should like TCU and some others. So, there's a meeting coming up Monday and we'll see what happens. If the players want to opt out, so be it, but they should also pack up and leave now. And I don't think that it's all the "racist" statues and "The Eyes" are the real problem, but are merely a convenient excuse. End of Rant.

Good point. And having three weeks to prepare for ISU, this team should have mud-holed them by at least 30 points. What the hell did they do for those three weeks?
