    Game thoughts:

Both teams to me looked bad. It's subjective I know, but they both looked slow, out of position, bad play calling, just not good football. The contrast between this game and Iowa / Nebraska, on at the same time, was striking, and those two teams aren't world beaters either. Those teams just looked better -faster, better tackling, etc.

I didn't have a huge problem with the 4th down call towards the end, even though I'm a fan of getting points when you can. If you get the first, then score a TD, the game is over, as the lead would be 11 with what about 5 minutes left. Sam usually makes a 4th and 1 - was just bad luck that he was tripped up and 9.81 m/s^2 pulled him down, as just about no defensive player can stop him.

The play calling on Texas' second to last drive was bad. I don't have issues with throwing the ball at the end of a game - far too many coaches go into the Turtle and hand off 3 times for a low chance of making a first. But those plays were high risk, low probability of success throws, especially with Sam still not throwing that well.

The O line was horrid during the final drive, culminating in the game losing sack. If Sam wasn't so elusive and hard to tackle, that drive would have gone no where.

Texas scored a TD about halfway through the 3rd quarter, then didn't score another point in the game, while giving up 10 points. A pitiful end to a poor game.
