He may turn out to show the 5 star potential in another system. Shaka did not seem to have the right system for Will. Wish him the very Best.
All Shaka cares about is jacking up 3's. He has no idea how to use big men or he doesn't want to use big men the right way. Either way, why even bother recruiting them.
None of Smart's moves, good or bad, will mean much as no way he goes packing at the end of the season with all of the excess money that will be sucked out of the Athletics budget with the upcoming change of football staff.
Congrats to our Horns for whoopin Indiana’s butt. Nice win. 3-0. Indiana was in the ‘others receiving votes’ category for the top 25–so they’re not chopped liver. (at least not before we took them down).
Shaka wouldn't play him (last yr - 23g - 2.6ppd/2.4rpg) I thought he looked good a couple times later in yr last season when he did in Mobile 7-footers who can see the court well, run the floor and hit the 3 do not grow on trees
No room for him. We have 4 bigs that can play in Sims, Brown, Kai, and Hamm. There’s a reason he’s not playing this season, but he’d be a starter next year
Most entertaining team to wear burnt orange since early 2000s. Bunch of high flyers out there. Already been a few top-10 dunks.
The first half last night was dreadful. Didnt watch the second half. Also Shaka looks... interesting.
There is no chance we're that good. One Greg Brown does not make a top-seed-in-the-tourney. We still play with the same guards who have gotten us nowhere over the past couple seasons. I notice some improvements, but until we can limit some mistakes and actually dictate an offensive scheme, I'd say we should fall somewhere between 15 and 25.
We are now 13 in the AP (highest under SS) Nova is 9 UH is 7, their highest since the Phi Slamma Jamma days
Seeing as how he has put a Big in the lottery of each of the last 3 NBA drafts, I think their scouts and GM's would disagree with you.
Do you seriously think that has anything to do with Shaka other than convincing them to come to Texas in the first place?
The jury is out for me until this weekend's game against Baylor. I think the Bears are great, but slightly overrated nationally, and we are still a question mark as we haven't really played a great team. Nova was strong, but Baylor will be the litmus test. Win, or keep it really close in a loss, and I may start getting interested which for me is huge as I generally care less and less about basketball the older I get.
I don't know that we should be comparing UT to UH. Even OU considers Sampson to be too slimy to bring back. I think I am like most UT fans where I rarely get excited about basketball. I am 100% convinced that if we were a basketball school, Barnes would have retired here. But his boring style of play only brings in non basketball fans when/if he has a top 10 team. For me this is a very exciting team, with an exciting style of play. Do I think they could make the great 8, sure if they get hot. Do I think they could be one and one. Sure if cold. But I will watch games when convenient and enjoy them. If Brown keeps improving, I will even start planning to watch this team. For me, he is the most entertaining player we have had since TJ Ford. I know Durant was better, but he is not very entertaining to me.
'Nova is a early bacteriology No. 1 seed along with Baylor. Kansas is a 2 along with W. Virginia and we are a 3, TTU is a 4. Of course, this is before our mid season collapse.
It’s sort of reminiscent of Penders. The unorthodox exciting play. Penders was promoting Shaka ball on tv a while back.
I probably would go with 1. Augustin 2. Bradley 3. KD 4. PJ 5. Allen Turner Aldridge Thompson Allen Bamba Hayes
They'd go 0-4 in the opening round against an NBA 8-seed if that's the guard lineup. As productive as Augustin and Bradley have been as role players throughout their careers, they'd be forced to play 48 minutes, and teams with speed would just blow by them.
