Ravens (with Robert Griffin III substituting in at QB) v. undefeated Steelers. I hope Griffin throws to Duverney more often than Jackson has.
I've always rooted for him to have success in the pros. Hated how everybody seem to label him a failure when the injuries were pretty clearly the issues and Mike Shanahan was a moron for not pulling him from the game at the end of his rookie year.
My only reservation about RGIII is that he let Briles recruit him to Houston and then followed him to Baylor. What? Anyway, good for him tonight Steelers? Rapers
Duvernay (13) is starting and lined up in the slot on the first series. (Also is the kick returner and still leads the league in yards per return)
Duvernay has caught one short pass, but RG3 looks extremely rusty and has two turnovers early on, including a pick six. . . . Ravens just recovered a muffed punt deep in Steelers' territory. . . .Ravens take advantage of the turnover and score to take the lead by one point (Steelers missed their earlier extra point try).
DeShon Elliott got up limping after the latest Steeler pass play. At least he's walking on his own. . . .He's back in the game. . . . Steelers had a great drive going but stalled with goal to go and had to settle for a field goal.
I noticed this same thing the last game I watched that DeShon played. Maybe it's a natural function of being a safety, but he seems to be just a spectator on most plays. . . . Steelers have another good drive that stalls near the goal, forcing another field goal, so Steelers only lead by 5.
Dez Bryant just slipped coming out of his break--otherwise probably would have caught a pass for a nice gain. Griffin bursts for a 39 yard gain on an option up the middle. . . . A couple of plays later, he pulls up hobbling (untouched) on a run for a first down--hammy maybe? . . . Stays in
Griffin scrambling is just about Baltimore's only offense. They only have 25 passing yards and a longest play of 7. Meanwhile Pittsburgh can't run the ball at all with only 25 rushing yards and a long of 7.
Steelers win 19-14; Duvernay with 3 catches on 3 targets, for 20 yards - which actually made him the Ravens' second-leading receiver.
They do not throw to him enough. I always watch the Ravens QBs and most of the time they don't even look in his direction.
I only streamed the audio...for those that watched, was the officiating as horrid as it sounded on the audio broadcast?
The refs' failure to flag the Steelers for delay of game at the end of the first half when they would not unpile after the tackle near their goal line was certainly an egregious error.
The feed made it sound like a lot of questionable contact and hold flags were thrown...but yeah, I knew about the end of half nonsense.
Not sure if I've ever seen that called, even though I've seen it blatantly done at least a couple dozen times.
"The Ravens placed top backup Robert Griffin III on injured reserve Friday after he injured his hamstring in Wednesday's 19-14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Griffin will miss at least three games." Griffin sustained that injury in the second quarter--that he was able to stay in the game and continue to pick up some rushing yards for the remainder of the game is pretty impressive.
