Ah .... and there you go It remains to be seen if the new athletic director and Mullen’s new agent, Jimmy Sexton, can negotiate a contract to keep the longtime coach in Starkville.
Just my opinion but I think there are only two things rolling around in Meyer’s head regarding a yes or no decision. One is the health factor and two is the air in Texas football and student body right now. Football performance aside the atmosphere at Texas, and maybe just in general for the body of ‘woke’ students, has to be a major consideration. Ha, maybe that relates to the health factor too.
And one more factor I've stated is his ego drive and temptation to succeed in doing what is widely becoming viewed as the "undoable"
I think getting the water off this ship w a bad bilge pump that quickly would be a miracle. God bless us all if it worked but two years minimum just to air out the stank.
It is insane to pay football coaches that kind of money. Not that I mind watching rich alums piss away money so they can feel better about themselves. On the other hand, watching them writhe in misery because their team lost to Iowa State at home is a good source of MY favorite passion, schadenfreude.
Gotta disagree Hui ... Urban Meyer will create exponentially more revenue for the school ... the fall out if does not happen will be titanicesque
Totally agree. Besides, I am an unapologetic capitalist and the market (mostly free) has a way of determining the “fair” price.
I wish there was a way to write an incentive laced deal. Something like a base salary of 8 Mil, and massive adders for a) CC + 2 Mil b) CFP + 2 Mil c) Winning it all, + 2 Mil. That would get him to 14, and everyone is happy.
This>>>>>>article concerns me greatly. If anybody thinks anyone but an elite, accomplished jedi master if the highest order can fix this mess....then I will give up all hope in hope for the situation. Report: Texas to consider Cristobal, Franklin if no Urban Meyer Neither Franklin nor Cristobal move this needle and I hope sources were poorest of poor for this story
Franklin moves the needle for me in a big way, like off the charts - Art Briles or Graham Harrell first
you can't look at it solely on the basis of cost. In business you look at ROI. What's the cost vs the money that comes in. I do the tech side of the sale and we have business people put the business case together so it's out of my expertise. But cost is irrelevant. What's relevant is the difference in cost vs $$$ coming in. My guess is the ROI of a winning team at Texas vs an extra 8M is huge. Only reason we got the Longhorn Network was because we were winning. That's 30M a year right there.
