Wine is like art, all a matter of personal taste, and never tell anyone they are wrong. Mine is Cakebread, Jordan, Silver Oak, and it's been that way for years. If it's not your favorites, thank you for not driving the price any higher.

Yes Sabre, agreed. I'll stick to Snowden, Volker Eisele, Altamura and a host of Italians. You're more than welcome to your favorites too!

    Red: Prisoner, Pahlmeyer blend

    Chardonnay: Rombauer - Consistently excellent

White Blend: Conundrum - Cheap, but good.

16 years old, drunk driving on Black Velvet .. obviously cause I’m 16 and bad **** won’t ever happen to me.. in a 66 4 door Chevy impala.... picked up Tim as I saw him walking down the road ( picture Henry Rollins with really long hair) he immediately throws up wine in and on my car. Probably Boones Farm?
Never drank the stuff after that.

My son is an expert and likes Bookbinder.

    DukeSteer,

I'll just say that if we ever grab a drink, it'll be beer.

Ahhhh Prisoner, very good but too high for me even at Costco. Don’t consume very much anymore but usually the cheap stuff when I do. No, not ripple are Boones Farm though. I do have some standards. Have been known to grab a 2 buck chuck Cab when in Santa Fe and Trader Jo’s though.

Not a big wine snob....I'm a simple man.

If I buy or can choose red cabs: Chateauneuf Du Pape or cheaper stuff like 14 Hands.

I like sweet German whites like Piesporters.

Tuning in late here, looks like it’s wait n see on TH, so the conversation has moved to wine talk.

On the game later today, I doubt Texas will cover and with the team captains bailing, and playing at K state in chilly weather, wouldn’t surprise me to see the purple team win. But Sam will do his best to keep that from happening.

I don't under the fascination with Yurcich. Admittedly, I know next to nothing about him other than this year's offense looks exactly like last year's offense. And we fired that guy.
As to Meyer, the way I see it is, if he has been offered, but hasn't said yes, we should move on. If you really want this job, you say yes the second it is offered to you. There's no hesitation, gotta talk it over with the Missus, blah, blah, bs.
Only problem with that move is Plan B of Cristobal or Franklin looks like crappola to me. Not interested in either of those guys, although I don't know much about Cristobal.

This is the same old tired "We'te Texas" position. No one but Texas fans living in the past gives a ****.

Even people who hate Texas- if they are honest- understand the competitive (possible) advantages Texas represents. I’d say Texas in its current disarray offers the perfect scenario for someone like Meyer. Personally, I’d much rather take over a position where my predecessor under performed. I’ve found it a lot easier to get things done my way and shine when I’m fixing a problem.

I like a red wine with the right meal. Don't have one I drink regularly to add the the list above, however I have learned that a red win really does taste better if it has been decanted.

Because it's a rainy Saturday here in sunny San Antonio and I have nothing better to do I've been thinking.
My love of Texas football, passed down from my father's obsession--everyone in family went to UT--began when I was six, in 1961. Growing up in Ft. Worth, I distinctly remember losing to the Cockroaches 6-0 in that year when were number one. Cried my eyes out. But I digress.
I can't remember who coached at UT before Royal--Ed Price? DA Bible?, Pop Warner (lol), hell I don't know. But in my lifetime we've had Royal, Akers, Mackovic, McWilliams, Brown, Strong and now Herman.
I give Akers a B or C grade. Royal an A plus, and Mack an A. The others? Suck. That's a pretty piss poor track record.

The same could be said of USC, Miami, FSU, Tennessee, and Michigan. How they been doing the last decade?

Everybody’s waiting to hear something definite about UM, but it’s not going to happen until TH is fired. TH may be a lame duck, but he’s still our coach. We won’t hear anything remotely official until after TH gets the well deserved ax, then we better hear PDQ or it isn’t happening.

I agree, that's a pretty piss poor track record. Yet you think, therefore, that we are in position to approach a coach we want with this attitude?
All I can say is that I am really, really glad you're not in charge of negotiations with Urban Meyer. To hell with your health concerns! To hell with what your wife thinks! Take the job now, on our terms, or we walk. We're Texas!!!

On the bright side, I suppose the deployment of that tactic would have already given us fans our answer as to whether UM will be the next man up...

So, just over half your life at A or A+
Akers played two games for a national championship, so he had to be at least an A-

    Then, the others are lousy.

Since we made it through Friday with nothing, the FOX Pregame Show should be worth watching
    Starts at 9am
Will FOX talking heads avoid the subject?
They messed around with him a few weeks ago saying something about Austin which made for an awkward moment. If no one says says anything today, it will be because he asked them not to (he cannot announce he is taking a job that is not even open yet). But if they kid around with him again about it or do some type of obviously scripted Q&A, probably not a good sign for us

Freddy had a lot of talent, especially on defense
But those offenses would drive you nuts
I think the 1984 Longhorns still hold the record for most players drafted from one school in one draft (17 in 12 rounds)

Now I know why Mackovic got hired here. Been trying to figure that out for 25 years. I thought drinking wine makes you hate Défense.

Here’s two cents back for you.
Decant the strong wines like cabs.
The life hack for non-snobs is to buy a simple red wine blend from a decent winery in Napa or Sonoma. Yes, a blend. But from a good company. Make sure to spend at least 11 or 12 bucks. It’s already smooth and easy to drink. All of a sudden, you’ll say, “wait, I actually like wine.”

    disclaimer—this works for non-snobs only

A cautionary note to this advice: some of those wines are "smooth" because they have enough residual sugar in them to cover up the tannins. So what you end up liking is mildly sweet (or off-dry) wine. Nothing wrong with that, just offering a small educational tidbit.

Those are also good examples of places with competitive advantages. I argue none of them have the combination of advantages of Texas. However, they’ve also had the wrong leader/s for years. Otherwise, when those former coaches were fired they would surely be successful at other places. To my knowledge, they haven’t been.

I made the mistake of getting married in Napa a few years ago. I can no longer buy wine at the grocery store or local liquor store. Mrs Eyes requires it come straight from the Winery. Check out Miner and Flora Springs online.
