The problem with the latter is that recruiting has collapsed
    And not just 2021
Herman is not good at coaching good players
He is not suddenly going to be better with average players

Sorry, but TH has to go. It’s about more than wins and losses. IMHO there is just too much bad blood with him, much of alumni/fan base, and apparently a number of players.

I was trying to explain this to my wife...

It goes waay beyond product on the field or wins and losses now. The perception of program, recruiting, reputation......They aren't all at stake......No....They are toast.
Only a major shake up with high-profile, undeniable rep, cred, leadership and respect has even a chance of correcting course

Herman had 4 years to build it and this season is his report card. What grade would you give him?

Brando is a doofus. Most believe that Royal retired because he tired of the pressure, and was turned off by Barry’s shenanigans at OU. SabreHorn would know...

When have you ever heard announcers suggest that a coach be removed, for any reason? I’ll help you: Never. (OK, maybe not never, but it’s extremely rare.)

No way that Klatt is going to say Herman needs to go, “whether or not UM is coming.”

I like Klatt, but these guys rarely burn bridges. If Klatt was being accurate he would have addressed the elephant in the room, and the primary reason Herman is a dead man walking.

It’s time. Herman has had time to say goodbye to the team. The big win today cushions the blow. Tom gets $15M. Here is why Tom can’t stay:

    1. We played for overtime all year when we should’ve played like we did today.
    2. Ingram was allowed to play when Roschon and Bijan should’ve started.
    3. Sam wasn’t expected to throw the ball away rather than take sacks.
    4. Sam wasn’t expected to make decisions that would improve chances of moving the chains beyond tuck and run or juke to extend.
    5. We reasonably expected to compete for CFP last year and this year and both were squandered.
    6. Tom can’t figure out that 40 yd pass attempts are a bad idea on 2nd and 10 up 4 with 3m to play.
    7. Tom can’t figure out that going on fourth instead of kicking chip shot FG up 4 with 6m to play is a bad idea.
    8. The team today has been on the sideline all season long.
    9. The team was good enough to dominate last year and this year and we looked like we barely deserved consideration.
    10. The WR corp we had last year would make a pro team drool. Combine that with Sam and Roschon and there was no reason any game should be close.
    11. Urban is available.

For me, he burned the bridge on The Eyes of Texas thing. He threw the fans under the bus, then told his players they did not have to stay for The Eyes if they did not want to. Look at all those emails that Joe Fan posted up. What are the fans *most* upset about? It's The Eyes thing, and rightly so. Seasons come and go, players come and go, but The Eyes of Texas are forever.

TH probably would have been able to ride out this season if he had just done a better job of winning the PR game with the fans. How did MB survive those OU blowouts? Remember those were BEFORE he won the MNC in 2005. He was able to do this because he made a lot of friends, many of whom were influential alums.

Do you know ANYONE who has met TH that feels like he is a great person and they would love to have him as a next-door-neighbor? I don't either.

I think #2 is the answer (no pun intended). Tom didn't get the best players on the field this year.

I for one am SICK of being told my entire life that Texas fans have unrealistic expectations. That is BS. We are very patient. Look at how long MB was here and how many times he got absolutely hammered by OU before he won it all. If we were Alabama, and we were doing what he said in this article ("you go 13-1 and people say what happened?") then OK. But that is not the case. Charlie Strong never had a winning season, then ran USF into the ground. Should we have kept him? TH went 6-3 (so far) this year against a crappy Big 12 conference, are we supposed to say that is OK? Would Urban Meyer really be satisfied coaching at a place that was just fine with winning 62% of it's games? Would *he* be satisfied with that? And even after the debacle that is this season under TH, he would still be coaching here next year IMO if he had handled the PR part of the job worth a damn. Unrealistic my ***. I think, if anything, we are too understanding, and too patient. Just why should any university, be it UT, OU, tOSU, or Michigan, accept such mediocre results when we are paying top dollar? This is a BS article and really, UM did not single out UT, the writer did. Kiss my burnt orange ***.

It seems to me that the BLM crap had a worse effect on our team than other teams, and unfortunately it happened during this year when we had our best chance to win the ccg.

    As orangefans report card goes:

    C - on the field
    F - in the stands
    F - west mall
    F - Horn Network

As far as Cactus Cafe and Esther's Folleys go I'd give an incomplete.

True, but it didn’t have to be that way. Either you manage a problem/distraction, or you don’t. Herman didn’t. In fact, he exacerbated the problem.

    By Season:
2017 C (won only one more game than CS, but beat Missouri in the bowl game)
2018 B+ (only for the 10 win season and beating Georgia in the Sugar Bowl)
2019 D+ (only because of the beatdown of Utah in the bowl game)
2020 F (so far, and for his insulting remarks about the fans not being supportive of the players)

Agree 100% - to me with signing day only 10 days away CDC has to make a move tomorrow. Either you fire him tomorrow or come out with a statement that he's your guy and you are happy with the job he's doing and looking forward to what he accomplishes over next few years. CDC has really handled this poorly so far.

Dukesteer nailed it. TH has been MIA on this when it happened and then either he is stupid enough to think you bad mouth those who pay you and tell them how horrible and racist their school, song, traditions are or you just think you can get away with anything. I believe its option #1!!! TH, Adios mofo.

Regardless of the fact that a lot was made by TH and others that he had spent time at Texas, he clearly made a massive miscalculation of our Traditions relating to "The Eyes." He saw the issue as an opportunity to suck up to his players and had no idea how strongly we (the fans and BMD's) would react. Then he called us out thinking somehow we see his point of view.
Other coaches no doubt had to address issues with their players but apparently were to explain that they still needed to go play without being distracted.

I'd taken Mullen in a heart beat if we can't get UM. Mullen's built winning programs at 2 SEC schools. I'd be thrilled to have him.
