What a crazy week for him. But multiple outlets say to expect movement this week. Sark is obsessed with recruiting and he wants guys in place to try to flip some targets just a month before signing day
Brainiacs say Sark and Muschamp have had conversations about the Texas job. Said the possibility was even used as a way to sweeten the deal for Texas, by Sark. However, Muschamp has been having conversations with several schools, including LSU and Michigan. Alabama is also considering Muschamp as there is apparently going to be more shake up on that staff. Saying Tosh won't likely come unless its the DC job, unless it was to work for Muschamp. Meetings between Sark and current coaches did not happen over the weekend, as Sark said would happen
OL needs to be made priority #1. That's the biggest area of concern right now, and not only for what's on campus but what the program has turned out the past few years. Yesterday's Cowboy game was a prime example. Connor Williams was manhandled the entire game, one play he was even pancaked in reverse.
Hate that we missed on the Brockermeyers. We have to build a stout O line. Glad to see a coach like Sark that understands how to use the run game.
Count me in the "Relieved Muschamp Passed" camp. I still think there's a good chance Chris Ash stays unless we see credible reports otherwise.
Agree. His lack of character showed in the way he left last time. What are we missing on Ash's resume (other than he has never coached with Sark) for him not be under consideration?
This guy would be a home run! FYI, his little brother is the ILB coach at OU. As a Sooner, hope it doesn’t happen.
Per OrangeBloods, if Barry Odom were hired as the new DC, he'd want to bring Sam Carter with him to coach DBs. https://247sports.com/coach/Sam-Carter-4467
When has Texas had a real S&C guy? Mack's guy was actually Mack's personal security guy; Strong's guy collected a paycheck, and Herman's guy did not realize that speed guys and interior linemen have different development needs.
Will Muschamp turns down offer to return to Texas as defensive coordinator, Barry Odom on short list "Under Odom, the Razorbacks this season allowed 34.9 points per game, an average of two better than in 2019."
I dunno. The fact that, apparently, Sarkisian offered the DC position to Muschamp, who turned it down, leads me to believe he doesn't want to keep Ash. . .I expect a new DC at some point. But maybe I'm wrong!
I agree unless we are missing something. No Spring training and limited fall camp is what hurt Ash implementing his defense the most. By the end f the season Texas basically controlled the LoS which did help the backend somewhat. Also, remember he took over a dumpster fire.
Sark is going full bore sec sec. Drayton still has a rep as a good recruiter and rb coach. I guess reeling in Zeke and Bijon carries some weight. It can be argued that he has developed any running backs while here.
I am fine with a completely new staff, let Sark gets the best guys for the job here. It's not like we have a bunch of sacred recruits to protect with the current staff.
Every coach we have had brings in “the best S&C guy” in the country. And when each of them has been fired, each of their S&C guys was considered a looser. Hopefully this time will be different.
More from OrangeBloods... - Tosh Lupoi (DL) and Holmon Wiggins (WRs) are being called "serious" candidates to join Sark's new staff. - Sark has officially reached out to another DC in Derrick Ansley of Tennessee. - he's also contacted LSU DBs coach/recruiting coordinator, Corey Raymond
