Point is some longhorn fans think fans of Auburn, Virginia, and Michigan State would consider us beating the aggies a foregone conclusion. That's living in the past.

 

What SEC groupthink comes up with should be immaterial to Texas fans. Of course, fans of every SEC team always think their teams will beat non-SEC teams. They are delusional. That's why a$m fits in there.

And, I'm fine with living in the past. I just see no benefit to ever playing them again. If Texas gets back on top, we don't need to play them for recruiting purposes.

 

As their elders out generations have to make sure they at least understand the issues surrounding all things aggy.

Looks like Texas just paid $60 million-plus to ensure "That's living in the future" also.

 

I'm in that boat, too. I have always said that OU is The University of Texas of Oklahoma. They get everyone's best shot every week, just like we do. a$m has no clue what that's like. I root for OU as long as they are not playing us or playing for an NC. a$m I would like to lose every game by 50.

 

Sort of to IDE's point, no one cares what conferences do in bowl games. No one thinks the Big XII is any good, no matter the 6-0 or whatever this past season in the Bowls.

Hell, many people around here want the Big XII disbanded but will cheer on OU in their Bowl because of a perception that that somehow helps Texas?

But it's actually two wins and a championship for aggy.
A win because it was an sec team they lost to. Another win because an sec team won. A championship because they played the eventual champion.

Wont be surprised if they put all that on a t-shirt. Ahh the Aggs, how can you all not want to play them at least every 5-8 years or so. They're too comical not to do an occasional battle with.

The table has turned on the Aggies. It is not in their best interest to play us. They are in the SEC, "the best conference with the most NFL draft picks. Where the best play".

If A&M beats us, they are supposed to because they are in the SEC. They play Alabama & LSU every year. If they lose, they lose a lot of recruiting "fluff" in Texas.

No, I don't want to play them because of the way they behaved.

Not at all. I was addresing the point nothing to gain and everything to lose. I believe the majority of college football fans and the media would consider beating the aggies an upset and praise the 'horns. So that would be something to gain.

 

That would apply in the 2020 season, but most years it does not.
