Wouldn’t It Be Karma

What if Texas taking all the Alabama coaches is the downfall of their reign at the top?

One could argue if Colt had not gotten hurt in the NC game and we won that Alabama would not have taken off and Texas could have stayed on top. Maybe the tide is turning.

Stranger things have happened. I like the take.

    If Colt doesn’t get hurt...

If Mack doesn’t change the offense...

If Mack doesn’t block pulling Saban away from Bama...

Notning last forever. It’s time for a change and right now, Texas represents the shiny new thing in college football.

Not intentionally. I wrote it and then laughed.

It would be funny if this coaching move flips the story though.

It is something to think about. If Colt isn't injured, do we win? I will say the probability of the Horns winning the NC with Colt would have been much greater. What if the coaches had better prepared Gilbert all season to be ready to step in for Colt. IIRC he was a RS Frosh. On the Longhorn Sports show a few day after the game, they ran an interviews with players which were shot prior to the game. The reporter asked GG if he was getting a lot of reps in the practices. GG responded "No not much", and that the coaches had told him to relax and enjoy the week, take in all of the fun stuff. That is a big part of the reason we saw what we saw on the field following Colts injury, GG looked like a dear in the headlights and clueless for most of the game, he finally settled in, got within 3, but couldn't maintain the momentum.

I think Bama will be OK. Saban is the mastermind and has the formula. He's not only a good evaluator of talent but of coaches. He's evolved as the spread offense infiltrated the SEC. He'll get the coaches he needs to have continued success.

Although Bryce Young doesn't have the reps under his belt, the D will probably be better, at least up front.

From what I remember (which is usually wrong these days), Saban made a late night trip a few years ago to some NCAA group to persuade them to "outlaw" the newish no-huddle-offences. It was a cry-baby move that was decried by many at the time and rejected by NCAA.

    Please correct my memory.

Yes, he said uptempo led to more player injuries. I guess he quit and joined them.

Let's tap the brakes here a bit. We are starting to sound aggy. Bama has put together the greatest run in college football in my lifetime. They have won 6 natty's in the last 12 years and were runner up in 3 more in that time. I am just hoping the new staff can help us win a few B12 championships over the next few years to get back in the CFP picture. I don't think anyone we have hired was even on the Bama staff for '09, '11, '12 or '15 championships.

Hey LHABSOB, we have been crawling in the desert in desperate search of water for 10 years! (Not like Moses, but close.) When we think we see water, well, at least “I” tend to get very excited. Hopefully it’s not a mirage this time.

Bama has had a helluva run and it might not end. I just said it would be ironic if beating us in the Rose Bowl started their run and now us taking a good portion of their staff ended that run.

Tuscaloosa has been a revolving door of assistants, many of whom were beyond horrible - Mike Locksley & John Blake for starters. There has remained one constant during that entire period - Nick Saban. At this point, I'm ready to label him the greatest football coach of all time. Like I said, he is the John Wooden of football.

You do realize that the names Saban and Satan are only differentiated by one letter.
    Coincidence?
    I think not.

I hear you... I made the mistake of drinking the Kool-Aid with Charlie and told myself I wasn't going to make that mistake again. I almost got pulled into the mirage by the kissing coach while walking the streets of the French Qtr at 3am after the Sugar Bowl win but came to my senses. I'm pulling like hell for Sark and would love for us to get to the mountain top and kick Bama back to the Franchione/Shula days.

    Godz & HIC,

I refuse to believe that Nick Saban has ever been to 49 & 61, which by the way I have photographed from about every angle without being in a helicopter.
