Peace Agreement between Israel and UAE

Disagree with whoever said that -- the Saudis (along with the Trumps) are the real driving force behind the scenes in all of this. Their main short term mission is to get everyone on the same page, lined up against Iran. Not the people of Iran but the Mad Mullahs who they seen as the main impediment to their plans for the ME. This was one more step along that path. The Saudis may be the elephant in the Middle East but they still move around much quieter than we do.

What they want is for the ME to calm down and excise the terrorists. Their long term goal is for everyone there to work together to become a powerful regional economic bloc. I started a thread predicting it a couple years ago.

 

I say they were always Democrats. No telling what they will do now, but it will be something bad.

There are many reasons why these agreements are newsworthy. One is the large scope , many nations and large populations.

 

Now that's just stupid. There are Israel Arab parties that run for seats in their parliament and win a decent number of them. All Israeli citizens can vote, regardless of their religion.

There are no restrictions on religious freedom in that country. The Gaza Strip and West Bank are not part of Israel, so they don't want residents of those areas to able to run across the boarder anytime they feel like it - they've had a bad experience of bus bombings to drive that point home.

 

Just give them the same care. It can be little or moderate, but thinking of them as less than human is troubling.

The other weekend I purchased a falafel plate and hummus from a despotic Arab. It was good. Around four years ago, I became a close acquaintance with another despotic Arab. He was a doctor who went to Syria to provide free medical services to some despotic Arabs who were living in refugee camps. He’s a great guy.
