Well... here we go again. Hopefully we can have a better shooting night and figure out some things defensively, because tonight we're going to see pretty much more of the same from the opposition.

Yep! Hopefully we'll also be able to avoid another 2 for 19, can't-throw-it in-the-ocean shooting slump.

We seem to shoot so much better at home. I just don't want to see easy layups from our opponents like the last two games.

Not having Gaston is a major issue. And as brnkj said, teams are going to continue to play Texas the same way.

Not bad. I think Texas is beginning to realize that you can get Collier the ball downlow if you just drive against the zone. A bunch of fouls not being called for Collier but I think that will change soon.

Still not a great shooting night. But good to see some improvements.

Coach Conradt summed up this team very accurately.

Frustrated that Collier spends times looking at the refs asking "Why didn't you call that" with her expression rather than hustling down the court to help with defense. As Andrea noted, once she stopped arguing for a call and concentrated on her play the points and rebounds started coming.

Was very off brand for her. Saying they are not our most talented squad - while true - was unnecessary and a bit insensitive. I didn’t appreciate that at all from a woman I otherwise adore.

I see two things in the statement. First, the hiring of Vic went thru CP and JC. With that being said, I think it human nature to defend your choice of a coach when the team is struggling lately. Second, I think she’s also trying to let people know that this hire is going to be a slower process than people think. Some in the fan base expected a championship in year one. She knows it’s probably going to be year 3 or 4 before his brand of basketball is on full display, that is, unless we hit the transfer lottery. Personally, I appreciate her honesty. That’s why she was so successful. Old school mentality!

Anyone know why Shay Holle did not play? Was she with team?

Yes, Holle was dressed to play and on the bench when LHN showed Audrey Warren walking by her when she was taken out of the game.

I have to admit it wasn't what I expecting, but I wasn't offended. She seemed to imply that what they lack in talent they make up for in hustle and discipline.

Only 10 turnovers last night, and would been under 10 in not for a couple of brainfarts by Audrey. I'll take that anytime compared to a KA coached team.

Speaking of Audrey, I think hard conversations need to be made regarding her long term health and life after basketball.

I liked Jody's honesty. Everyone knows it, so what's wrong with saying it. She could have said "rebuilding year" or something like that. Now that I think of it, talking about "talent" or lack thereof could be a little too direct.

Also frustrated that many times Collier is unable to finish strong in a crowd. Many of her offensive rebounds are coming from throwing it up at the basket several times hoping it goes in or drawing a foul. Don't get me wrong, she's invaluable and the centerpiece to the offense.

Let me clarify... JC's statement may have been a bit surprising, but I definitely was not offended by it. It is what it is. @BALL IS LIFE said pretty much everything I think about the situation as a whole.

In my opinion (and I really do adore Jody) there is a fine line between being honest and being insensitive. Players and their families will see that interview. Jody is an ambassador for the program and the sport. It would be like hearing your boss tell the media that you are not the best accountant out there but you really enjoy doing people’s tax returns but the IRS might audit you so beware. Or hearing a food critic say that you are not the best chef but you really like to cook so the meals will sometimes be good and sometimes not. It was - in my opinion - an insensitive remark about these student athletes. There are plenty of ways to say that you have to give a new coach time to develop their program without throwing shade on the players. Jody is usually much better than that.

I can totally see where your coming from. I just thought of it as case of JC growing up in a different generation that today's players and even their parents grew up in. Believe me, as an older person myself, there have been times I've came on this forum and have been pretty critical of players, coaches and other posters and later regretted it.

    Regarding Coach Conradt's comments.

If the report is true that some players admitted to taking Texas Tech lightly and not being ready to play, maybe players need to hear the message. We know Vic is telling them, but is the message getting through? "Hey, you are not going to skip onto the court and out-talent people. If you want to win, you are going to have to work really hard." Vic has said since early in the year that this team could only win by playing extremely hard. Of course that is his style anyway, but I sensed early on that he also was hinting at something about the available talent and athleticism. And Jody did not say the team could not win; only that the team would not get many easy wins.

Someone has got to say something. That fall yesterday could have been avoided. I've said before that the extra flopping is what is causing her injuries. That screen was not hard but the flopping she did is what caused her whiplash. I love her effort & game but it has got to stop. The brain is nothing to play with and I truly am worried for her

I think we are all basically agreeing while disagreeing lol. I think Jody is wonderful and normally she does such an amazing job with interviews. That was why this struck me as so out of character for her. That said, I will repeat what I originally posted - I agree with her. I just think it’s not one of those things you say out loud in a recorded interview on your school’s own sports channel. These are not professional athletes they are student athletes. And you are right about this new age we live in.

Honestly, the only reason I am still talking about it now is to avoid talking about our next game. Yikes. Iowa State on the road. We really, really need to be that team that plays really, really hard. :beertoast:

By the way, did you know that Jody Conradt averaged 40 points per game in high school and 20 points per game in college?

This is me still trying to avoid talking about the Iowa State game. Really nervous about this one.

ISU is just as spaztic as us. Beat Baylor on the road and barely beat OU at home. Jones for ISU is playing out of her mind right now.
