The kid is from Orange County. Our old coaching staff selling him on the crapiness that is Travis County.

Ewers is a very good 1 trick pony. Much rather have Klubnik when protection breaks down. Klubnik is a faster and stronger Ehlinger who can throw downfield with more accuracy. Ewers is a better Buechelle but with the same escapability problems. Also, I think Klubnik has leadership qualities that Ewers has yet to develop.

I would prefer Malik Murphy over Ewers. Also Weigman is rated higher than Klubnik, so need to look at him.

Highly doubt that. But Naivar is working diligently, I am certain. Valai has no chance of getting him to Houston.

Craig is good people. When Herman cut him loose, after all he had done for Herman, any respect I had left for Herman evaporated immediately. Herman is all about Herman, and he could give a **** less about anyone else.

    Faster? Seems to be true.
    Stronger? Exceptionally unlikely.
Accurate downfield? Remains to be seen.

    SN,

I have only seen each play a couple of times. Don't know the kids.

For me the major difference is whether or not they can handle pressure - not the rush, the pressure of the big stage. I alluded to that in my post when I picked Westlake to win.

Herman had to fire a lot of people that he didn't want to. I think the only reason he fired Naivar was to let the incoming DC have his guy there.

400 guy in track. I do not think Sam could sprint 400m without great effort. He would not be happy.

Watch the last two Westlake playoff games. Also, Klubnik performed with an injured shoulder (do not know which). I think Ehlinger was injured and did not play in the post district games his Junior year?

Klubnik now is about where Ehlinger was as a freshman at UT. I think he will get larger and stronger this year. Ehlinger does have those draft horse thighs, though.

The one thing I noticed while watching highlights of the game was that it seemed that Ewers was less aware of the entire field, and seemed to lock onto a target very early. He’s young so that can be addressed but it did surprise me given the accolades he has been receiving.

I'm a big fan of dual-threat guys opposed to pocket passers. I'd take Klubnik or the kid from California every time.

IDE, I believe you are right. Either way 3 programs will get a good one. Texas needs the one that best fits the team.

Not so. Ewers has some pretty good film on his ability to run, I'd say his running is more along the lines of Colt than Ehlinger but not as fast. Other than that his quick release is uncoachable as is his arm strength and accuracy. The kid is a generational talent. If you judged him on the state title game you need to understand that Westlake has one of the top 5 defenses in the state and were constantly in his face all game long.

For the record, this was a hand time. Dont get as many laser times from 3A schools. But still, he is very fast

This was brought up early on after we had the 2 game skid and our season was pointing South. Herman and Hand let their arrogance get the best of them here.
Getting Hawkins back on our good size is nothing but beneficial.

    It never made any sense
Maybe past trainer issues made us nervous making close relationships with them? (re: Willie Lyles)

Exactly true! That is when I noticed him losing his composure, not being a leader, and not being able to escape the rush or the containment. Yes the Westlake defense is elite but so are most college defenses. He can certainly step one way or the other to avoid a rush but he is not someone you want running the ball much as he is too fragile, I believe. Unchallenged in the pocket, he will beat almost anyone. But even the best quarterbacks today are challenged to break out of the pockets and have to run once in a while. Klubnik is the better athlete and has a high floor with a higher upside I believe.

We offered or re-offered 5-star RB Raleek Brown (5'8,185) of Mater Dei in the LA area. He is either the #1, 2 or 3 ranked RB in the country, and a top 50 player overall. Was first offered by a college at age 14. CBs show ou, but he seems pretty happy with the offer from us.
Sark has some connections to the school, we will see if they pay off
Shades of Tyreek Hill? Or maybe Darren Sproles?

After Allen de-committed, LSU simply added 2 more CB commits over the past week, and now has three CBs committed in 2022
I so wish we had been able to peel Corey Raymond away from them

Anyway, here is an Allen quote

“I’ve probably said this before but just to be offered by the University of Texas, being from Texas, is a huge honor. And they just let me know that I was a top priority.”

I would not mind getting some 2022 momentum started
