Texas at OSU 01/27/21

Another road game at a tough venue. Okie State has good players both inside and out. Let's hope we can match the intensity and focus from our last game.

 

Will there be any way to watch this game or only radio?

just saw it will be on ESPN+

 

There is an inconsistency on the UT Athletics page. On texassports.com under schedule it does not show TV. If you drill down on “preview”, it does show ESPN+. I have ESPN+ and it is not listed. Tonight’s B12 women’s game is the Baylor game. Guess we’ll see. It also shows that there are no “live stats”. So I guess I’ll watch the boys.

 

I found it on ESPN+ tomorrow at 6:30.

 

Guess it would help if I got the correct day. I was thinking boys AND girls games were both tonight. I also found it on ESPN+ Wednesday. Thanks for the help.

 

TV rights and broadcasting is so weird. Tomorrow's game would be welcome content on LHN, but it's only on ESPN+. It's a wash since both are streaming only for me, but it's sad that a top 20 basketball team (with its own network!) is not on TV.

 

In Coach Vic’s pre game media interview he mentioned Elyssa was doing great and performing non-contact drills and was traveling with the team to Stillwater. I had to think, who is Elyssa? I even had to go to the roster page. There’s been so little mentioned of her this season but she is a player that is going to help us in the future.

 

To clarify, the game against OSU is AT Stillwater. Because it is away from Austin, the TV rights fall to the hosting team. All schools, except Texas and OU, have agreed to have their third tier TV rights go to ESPN+ when ESPN or FOX decide not to pick up the game. The exceptions are Texas at home with LHN or OU with "Sooner Vision".

Rule of thumb:
1) in Austin, on LHN
2) everywhere but Norman, ESPN+
3) in Norman, Fox or ESPN or Sooner Vision

That's why LHN isn't picking up the game, they can't.
(this is why I finally ended paying for ESPN+, to catch volleyball and softball as well)

 

OSU’s Natasha Mack (#4) scored 34 points against Iowa State. They still lost by 10.

She scored 21 points against Baylor. Again they lost, but still...

Kansas held her to 14 but she had 19 rebounds and 6 blocks.

Their only real outside threat is Ja’Mee Asberry (#21) who hit 5 threes in their last game and a total of 11 over their last three games.

Lexi Keys (#15) can sometimes come alive from the arc but not with any consistency.

The Texas team that showed up against WV and TT will lose.

The Texas team that showed up against Iowa State will win.

 

After watching a couple of Oklahoma state games, this will come down to guard play. Natasha Mack is no soft player and Collier will be double teamed in their zone. The way they run their defense allows for many open shots it's just up to us to find them which is easier said than done. Allen-Taylor, Taylor & will have to shoot the ball well & Texas should be able to force a lot of turnovers due to their pressure defense.

I think every game for Texas outside of Baylor is a toss up especially with Charlie going up against a player like Mack, a player that can match her size/skill and is even more athletic than she is. Which teams is going to show up for Texas?

 

Chevalier has been solid all season, and looked really comfortable against Iowa State. I have expect her to have a break out game sooner than later... Love the way that kid gets after it!

 

I have liked her game from the get-go. Loving it more every game. When she came in the last game, the dynamics changed. She is a pest defensively and I love her pressure. And she has more offensive game than most give her credit for. What I like most is her offensive floor game. I can't tell you how comfortable I am with watching her lead the break, seeing nothing advantageous and pulling it out to set up the offensive. I have seen so much in the past where our point guards try and make something out of nothing and throw it away. She sees the floor well and generally makes the right decision based on point in the game and in each possession. I like the senior point guard to start but Chevallier is a real good change of pace and asset. Next year, the competition for point guard playing time will be intense and healthy. Don't write her off, as I think Coach likes her game management.

 

This should be interesting to see Collier one on one with Mack. So far Mack is a little more athletic and has a good knack for the ball. Charli must stand strong in the paint and dominate, stay out of foul trouble, box out and rebound.

 

We're playing a step behind and can't buy a bucket. Osu up by 8.

We need to settle down.

At the end of 1st qtr we gained a little momentum and now we're down by 7, 12-19. We settled down just a bit and Coach put in Ebo.

 

Oh boy, missing bunnies. Does not bode well. Hope this is not another embarrassing blowout.

 

One foul called that whole first quarter. Wow. Not complaining.

We seem to be low energy tonight.

Oki lite playing well. We're not. That's the bottom line. Any one keeping count on the blown at the rim baskets we've had this year?

 

I can’t explain it. We are not pressing very much and lost that great weave we did against Iowa State. OSU had a game 48 hours ago. We should be running circles around them trying to tire them out. We look like the tired team.

 

10 last time I counted. We are toast. Shooting 25 percent while Okla is shooting 45 percent from field and 50 percent on 3 ptrs.

 

Maybe Vic will throw a little ice cold water on everyone during halftime! Got everything crossed!

We're fighting back. At the half we're down by 3, 32-35

 

With as poorly as we played, I am shocked we are only down 3. Gives me a little hope for the second half.

 

Texas only down 3 after playing that poorly. I’ll take it. Don’t think OSU can make some of the shots they made on the first half. Think we come out strong and have it under control by the start of the fourth.

 

That’s our story anyway. Let’s stick to it.
