Anybody watched this? I’m just into Season 2 (of 5) and this is one of the best things I have seen, probably since Narcos. Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis are fantastic as a U.S. Attorney (Giamatti) and a popular hedge fund manager (Lewis) at odds with each other in the world of New York finance. Lots of other storylines weaving in and out, great characters. Really good!
When I get into a show that I like I always wonder if the writing can keep up. Some shows just seem to peter out and get predictable after a while but this has been good so far.
You can see them straining a bit over the seasons with trying to keep the story arc relevant. But IMO it stays interesting throughout. Nothing really like it available that I am aware. And Paul Giamatti is a tour de force (the actor not the character).
Maybe a few too many story lines in this one. Odd how new characters appear and disappear without background.

I'll agree. It's tough to stay relevant. The same thing happened to Homeland, with season 2 being a disaster for them (but at least the final season was good like the first). As to Billions, I would still argue -- (1) There is nothing else like it (2) I hate Sorkin but easily concede he can write (3) There is hardly anyone in the business who can deliver a line like Giamatti. He is a master at his craft FWIW, I will toss out MindHunters on Nflix - its niche so the topic might not be for you, but if you like the area at all, it's very interesting. More of an good depiction of history than a well-acted, well-written drama. (They do add a little woke revisionism which is mildly distracting but its minor and easily ignored)
They really hammer on those pronouns for Taylor don’t they? I like her their character but good grief.
These sort of guys are in the frying pan now, including Steve Cohen (NY Mets new owner) on whom this show was supposedly loosely based. Don't cry too many tears, or raise too many cheers (depending on how you feel about them), just yet. You watch--when it's all said and done with Gamestop, AMC, etc., many of these hedge fund billionaires will likely have many more billions $$$$$ to their name than before it started. I bet it's just in the 4th inning or so (a baseball analogy since the NY Mets are now indirectly involved).
Oh yeah, watch for the writers of Billions to work the Gamestop, AMC, etc. booms (and possible busts later, we'll see) into the plot.
