A traffic stop that *checks notes* involved an known gang member with *checks notes again* open felony warrant and who *again checks notes* attempted to evade arrest.

So, being a criminal killed while placing the community in danger apparently warrants free shoes and car parts and beauty supplies for all...

Seems to me like it is BEYOND time for one of the BLM leaders or attorneys always Jonny on the Spot to get in front of a camera and urge their community members to just comply with the officer they are involved in an incident with.

 

As an Army vet and enlisted man, personally I found it funny to see Lt. Man-Child on the ground, snot running out of his nose, crying like a child "man that's f-ed up." Surprised he didn't start calling out for mommy.

Roughly half of all butter bars are completely useless, and don't even know enough to figure that out. If and when they get to become the company XO, they begin to understand that 1 ROTC class per semester and 2 weeks at summer camp hasn't been enough to know it all.

If he'd been the one giving orders to troops, I doubt he'd have much time for them asking 20 questions back to him. If you want to be a leader, you have to learn how to be a good follower first.

Why was that video posted in this thread, anyway? Is it germane to the discussion of riots in Minneapolis due to George Floyd?

 

A lot of these stops are the products of pretext stops----hoping to make a drug arrest or, in south Texas, an alien smuggling arrest, the cops pull somebody over on a pretext-----the driver did not signal his intent to change lanes or to turn at an intersection within 100 feet of said intersection and the cops pull him over to see what they can see.

A lot of my drug defendants got stopped that way to start with---next thing you know they are looking at mandatory minimums of 10 years.

What the press doesn't seem to pick up on is how many of these stops result in nothing---nobody gets shot or tormented because the driver is compliant and not possessing or smuggling and has no outstanding warrants. And they go their way.

I got stopped outside Cuero a year ago because my front license plate was in the backseat waiting for a frame to be attached. The deputy was very polite and told me he was just making the stop to check me out. Nice young man.

If I was of the colored persuasion I might not have been as reciprocally polite and might have thought he was just harassing me because of pigmentation.

Pretext stops are a bad habit that law enforcement has adopted and causes a lot of resentment.

 

Because that would undermine their victim status. No. They are going for broke even if it pulls this country apart. And Democrats are too cowardly to do anything about it.

He explained the 2 options the cops were giving the Lt. One to chill , let his eyes get back to normal and get on down the road
Or get written by the cops who then have to inform the Army

Objection. That's a massive assumption. By extension would it be fair to assume that by being of a colored persuasion you would be more likely to resist arrest, assult an officer, and flee the scene?

If you're Black you're allowed to be agitated because the cop is probably just trying to harass you, regardless of the law. Allegedly.

 

Apparently it also stops a lot of crimes, hence the drug fiends you ended up with as clients.

We alternate in this country between "Why can't we stop all this crime" and "Why are cops so mean and so many people in prison". It's as predictable as the day is long. Current times are the same as the bad old crime infested days of the 70-90 time frame. We started locking criminal up in the late 80's and by the 90's crime had started coming down.

By the early 2010's crime was at very low levels. Then we got the sads about pieces of **** like Mike Brown or George Floyd who acted a fool and got deaded. And started letting crooks out of jail, as they didn't want to be there and their families cried.

Welcome to 2021, with soaring crime.

Question is, can the crime Genie get put back in the bottle, because you can't always do it. The US was a far different country in the 80's when we cracked down on crime. Is the will there? Is the ability there? Or have we turned into just another 3rd world country like Mexico or Brazil, where the cites are always going to be dangerous, and just one event away from riots and looting.

Most can talk their way out of a ticket, especially when the plate is in the back seat and you can show no mounting point existed.

In the age of computerization, however, I have learned that it becomes easier for them to see it wasn't the first time you have been stopped, even when it is the first time in THAT vehicle for no plate. I've got three that don't have a mounting bracket...two were bought out of State and one (fortunately) used to bolt to a cross-member and was easily removed. However, the stops in that vehicle that began with the lack of a plate DID get recorded even without a ticket being written...and were then brought out when I got stopped in the XK8.

" VILLA RICA, Ga. -- Three officers were shot in a police chase that ended early Monday with one suspect killed and another in custody, authorities said.

A Georgia State Patrol trooper clocked a car going 111 mph (179 kph) on Interstate 20 and initiated a traffic stop around 3:30 a.m., Georgia State Patrol Capt. Brandon Dawson said. The driver stopped initially and then took off again with the trooper in pursuit. The trooper bumped the car to try to stop it but the driver of the car regained control, Dawson said.
The trooper continued pursuing the vehicle until a passenger used a rifle to fire at the patrol car and hit it, taking it out of action.

Police officers from Carrollton then joined the chase. At some point, a passenger leaned out and fired a shot into a police vehicle, hitting an officer, Carrollton Police Chief Joel Richards said. The officer lost control of his vehicle and hit a utility pole. Other officers stopped to help him.

The suspect continued on and Villa Rica police officers pursued the car down a side road, Villa Rica Police Chief Michael Mansour said. Shots were fired at the officers and one officer was hit twice, he said.

A Carroll County sheriff's deputy was also shot in the arm, Sheriff Terry Langley said.

One suspect was killed and the other was taken into custody “after a negotiation” and was being held in the Carroll County jail, Langley said.

“It could have been a lot worse, and we’re thankful and we pray for the speedy recovery of those officers," Langley said.


The law enforcement agencies involved asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to take over.

Ban traffic stops of Blacks. Or if the officer can't tell, once they approach the driver side window, if it is determined the driver is Black, the officer must apologize, acknowledge their white privilege and give the Black driver all the money in their wallet as a good faith form of reparations.

Maybe then these stories will stop.

Even better. Police departments adopt policy to pay drivers $50 for inconvenience for each stop not resulting in ticket or arrest. People then complain the cops are only pulling over white folks.

 

I posted it. It's poor police conduct, luckily this one did not result in a death. It seems as close as any other thread and there seems to be an aversion to starting new threads here.

I've had about 4 total interactions with cops and 3/4 were fine and the cops were very reasonable -- 1 of them was with a guy who has no business being a cop.

I was pulled over for speeding, which is fine, he had every right to stop me.

So I pull over onto a side street about 10 seconds after I see his lights flashing.

I pull forward about 30-40 yards into the side street and park along the side.

After about 5 minutes, the cop comes running up to my door, screaming "WHAT THE f**k ARE YOU DOING, CAN'T YOU SEE I TOLD YOU TO PULL FORWARD! ARE YOU TRYING TO GET ME KILLED?"

Apparently he wasn't happy because he felt the back end of his car was too close to the major street we had pulled off. He was apparently waving at me after I stopped but I didn't see him because I was busy getting my insurance and drivers license info out. He never honked or tried to get my attention in any other way.

Even after I explained to him that I didn't see him, he was still raging. He told me "I'm have no choice now but to impound your car, so go call someone to pick you up. State law mandates that because you didn't follow my directions"

I was just a naive 22 year old when this happened, so I didnt question him. Of course I found out later that he was a ******* liar. He just wanted to give me a hard time because he's an out of control scumbag who likes to push people around using a badge.

Most cops are great. A few are scumbags. Same thing with any other profession. But scumbag cops get to hide behind a shield and it's far too difficult to take from them because of their ******** unions.

 

re pretext stops: I guess my big objection to them is that they seem to fall outside that requirement for reasonableness. Search warrants, etc. Like in the law relating to the us and Texas constitutions. I have never been stopped for driving when black but every black male I ever talked to about it had.

I used to get stopped on pretexts fifty years plus ago when i was a teenager in a small town. I would be driving my old station wagon down the road and the lights would come on. The constabulary would amble up with the flashlight checking out the rear compartment and then the passenger sections, looking for dead deer or alcohol or whatever and then pose that constitutionally required question: Where you going, son? Followed by the keen follow up: Where you been? Next: you been drinking? First rate detective work there. And no reason for the stop (required by law) other than idle curiosity about why a kid is driving an old car at night. (none of his ******* business being the proper answer, but I knew that might get me shot)

And I was white the whole time.

Anyway, I don't have much patience for dumbazzes who can't mind their manners when dealing with people who have badges and guns.

As for Duck, who talked about the dope fiends I represent now in my dotage I can only say that they don't resemble fiends so much as idiots. Most have little in the way of good sense or strong suits for self preservation. I have taken to questioning them about the concept of risk. As in, had you thought about how you were going to spend the money you made selling the meth? Yes. Had you thought about what might happen if you got caught? No.

Will you promise me that in the future you will try to balance the benefits with the potential for bad things happening?

I don't think they will but I feel like I ought to at least make the effort.

 

cops get to hide behind a shield and it's far too difficult to take from them because of the ******** Democrat political machine in big cites that relies on civil service unions for votes, campaign donations, and manpower for turnout drives, block walks, etc., in return for un-fireability of their members and gold plated pensions with COLA's and full health insurance plans. Same as those that work in the tag office, water department, road crews, etc.

As for crooks being dumb, yeah the overlap of criminality and stupidity is close to 100%.
