What is he's wrong? Should Dr Fowler have his medical license stripped like the other guys? Or are you going to make a bunch of excuses for him?

Are you all really surprised that she's being charged? I'll defend the police when they're right, which is 90 percent of the time, but she pulled the wrong weapon and killed this guy. Why wouldn't she be charged?

No, not surprised, but few of us are in a position such that a small mistake will result in someone being killed. And the fact that seeing what happened in this case, will scare many to other careers.

Interesting to call it a "small" mistake.

So, where's the line for the minimum amount of "wrong" someone can do, get shot, and NOT hold the officer accountable? Like, how far does immunity actually extend before it's just taking care of business Dirty Harry style?

Have you actually WATCHED the video or are you just marching lockstep with the mainstream and online narrative that this was an intentional act against a black male?

I don't have qualms with the pursuit of charges, but I do have serious qualms with this rush to arrest someone before an investigation has even been completed which would permit a fair-minded Grand Jury to even have all of the relevant facts before an Indictment was returned.

I ALSO have serious qualms with the fact that Hennepin County made no effort to conceal her residential address on the booking. I guess the bright side is that she may be getting an insurance payout after the mob damages the house beyond repair...

I don't know that a reasonable jury is going to find that each and every element was satisfied. This presumes that she doesn't take a plea rather than risk a mob trying to give the maximum dime that MN law allows.

It is getting to the point, however, where any member of law enforcement that even has a minor use of force involving a black person is going to have to be prepared to lose their job because of the mob mentality. This includes the black officers that make up a good percentage of a number of police forces...

When an employee screws up real bad I fire them politely. Even if stealing I would not prosecute them

ridealongs with cops are illuminating and more people should avail themselves

I would not do their jobs for anything. Worse than my stint at the slaughterhouse.
She screwed up bad. Sacrificing her to a howling mob of know nothings and Nike wearing liquor looters is an outrage

If Dr Fowler is proved wrong then I'd say the same about him as well.

Honestly, I haven't read or seen much media coverage. I don't watch much news. Mrs. Deez hates the news. However, my understanding is that she intended to pull the taser and accidentally pulled her gun and blew the guy away. That's a big screw-up with terrible consequences.

I'm aware of the resisting and trying to leave the scene. That's bad, and her being charged doesn't make him a hero or a martyr. He's an idiot who would be alive today had be cooperated. I'm also aware that the city manager was shitcanned for saying she deserved due process. That is terrible, as I indicated earlier. In other words, my support for her being prosecuted has no bearing on and should not be construed as an endorsement of the political narraratives being pushed (which are fraudulent) or as a defense of the dude who was shot.

However, none of these factors changes the fact that she owed a duty to use the correct level of force (which she knows wasn't the gun, otherwise she would have used it intentionally). She breached that duty badly and with terrible consequences. It's not murder, but it is manslaughter.

It's not a small mistake. It's a big one, and it's one that cops can't be allowed to make without facing serious consequences.

    What am I missing?

    1) He was pulled over for a traffic violation
    2) He had a warrant on a separate charge
    3) He resisted arrest
    4) He had an illegal weapon in his possession
    5) He tried to flee

She apparently grabbed the wrong "defense weapon". This guy has size, a disposition to not obeying the court or police in a city of malcontents with no respect for authorities. I'm surprised she didn't approach the car with GUN drawn and sprawl his *** on the pavement, then have the conversation after he was cuffed.

I mean... it sounds like you agree?

Yes, I've seen the video. Not sure what that means for your "version" of the narrative. She said she was attempting to tase him and accidentally used the other weapon instead. So... yes. You're correct that they should pursue charges against her.

Regarding your last paragraph, my original question was asking where is the line of how much (or how little) "wrong" someone can do and then still not hold a cop accountable for whatever he/she did to end the situation. If you're implying that her action in this situation was a "minor use of force" against a black person, which I don't think you are, then you're talking about a completely different situation for a completely different bodycam video in the future. I say we take those on one-at-a-time and determine what's appropriate.

Your reference to 'taking care of business Dirty Harry style" implies that this was an intentional extra-judicial killing, which the video seems to support it was NOT. No amount of bleating from the loud-mouth SJW crowd or libtile media is going to make it such.

This latest MN incident was nothing beyond a tragic accident that COULD have been avoided if the felon had simply complied with arrest.

And, ANY traffic stop has the potential to go awry as was discovered yet again in Texas earlier today in Burleson. Jackwagon wanted on a revocation warrant and who has a lengthy history of arrest and conviction in this State decides to open fire on an officer who pulled over the driver of the vehicle. They THEN also proceeded to go and kill another woman whilst carjacking her to get away...now in custody in Cooke County Jail awaiting transport back to the jurisdiction where he shot the others and then, following trial, hopefully to Livingston to reside on Death Row until his short ride to Huntsville and a lethal injection.

What you're missing is that this stuff doesn't mean he summarily gets the death penalty. She had every right and obligation to pursue him, but even with a bad apple like Daunte Wright, she has to follow procedure and respect his rights.

    Seems like it goes here.

    I can see it now.

    Operator: 911. State your emergency.
B&J Employee: Help! We've been robbed. I'm at Ben and Jerry's on 17th St.
Operator: Ooh, Ben and Jerry's, you say? We can send an officer, hmm, one sec, a week from Thursday.

The policewoman messed up by stating it was a mistake to draw and fire her sidearm. IMO, it's not unrealistic to believe that she feared the criminal resisting arrest was attempting to retrieve a weapon from his car and that her use of force was appropriate and necessary to eliminate the perceived immediate threat. No doubt there would be an investigation and certainly rioting/burning/looting, but I doubt she would have been criminally charged.

When I mentioned Dirty Harry, I was referring to the "next" time something similar to this situation happens, and how much "bad" someone has to do or be capable of in order to merit an extrajudicial killing. I honestly believe that Kim Potter made a mistake. You can tell by her own words on the bodycam footage.

As for the sources (mostly Twitter based) who call this an intentional, race-based murder, I think that's more of a gut check thing than anything else. While it's tragic and unfortunate, I still think we have an issue with "well x did y so he DESERVED to be shot" in this country (or maybe this forum), and the line of what consists of x and y doesn't really matter because I don't think anyone deserves to have their due process taken away.

Your Jerry Don story about the multiple shootings and carjackings... I mean... was he shot by cops? No? So he gets his trial, court date, punishment, etc. Of course bad stuff can go down at traffic stops. But Wright was shot by a cop who made a mistake, and Elders was not. It doesn't hurt the liberal narrative either that Elders also happens to be white.

I think what you want me to say is that the cop who shot her should also be brought up on charges, whether it's manslaughter or something like Potter is facing. I honestly don't know. I do believe that both Wright and Babbitt were "in the wrong" with their actions and that neither deserved to die for it.

The stats don't back up 98 percent of the Left's narrative on the police or civil rights in general. Numbers are rarely discussed, and when they are, it's the most superficial analysis that's offered with no context at all. If you listened to the rhetoric about unarmed black men getting shot by the police, you'd think getting shot was the norm when they get pulled. Then you look at the stats, and it's a pretty small number of people. And of course, most are doing something stupid - running from the police, assaulting the police, resisting arrest, etc.

It's also comical to get a political and social lecture from a couple of dudes who live in Vermont (which is about as white as it gets) and who sold out to Unilever for over $300M and don't work anymore.

About 15 years ago, my 7 year old asked to buy some Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. We put the ice cream back and went over to the Blue Bell section.

It's really stupid for a company like Ben & Jerry's to stick their necks out on social media. All it can do is piss off people like me, who used to buy their ice cream. Do they think they're buying themselves favor with the Leftist mob? It can't be done.
