    Another interesting tidbit in the article;

"The other big item on the council agenda this week is lifting the prolonged recruiting dead period in all sports. Because of the pandemic, off-campus recruiting by coaches and official visits to campus by prospective athletes have been banned for more than a year."

Coach Sarkisian touched on this yesterday during his media session.
"Sarkisian said if they are allowed to hit the recruiting road in June, the entire staff will work every day that month."

It was already reported but this is from Karisma so I guess it’s officially official:

Awesome!!! I hope that server hosting the transfer portal is ready... it's about to light up like Las Vegas.

Come on Rickea! Come on Jessika Carter!

I'm confident Rickea is leaving. No mention on her twitter page of the 3 sister transfers welcoming them to Mississippi State.

Yeah, and I haven't seen her "like" any of the tweets regarding the two new assistant coaching hires at MSU. She did "like" the tweets about Ketara Chapel being hired at Auburn.

Rickea deciding to enter the transfer portal would be half the battle; we'd still have to hope she chooses Texas as her next destination.

Auburn would definitely give us a run for our money since the hiring of Harris as well as the staff she is putting together so far. Hopefully Vic can work his magic but her entering the portal is the first step so let's see if we can get that far.

I think we all should manifest good news coming today. Maybe if we all think it and put it in the atmosphere it may come because I want to see players announcing they are committed to Texas at the rate commits and transfers are committing to duke. I know off season just started but I'm getting very anxious

I had a marvelous golf outing yesterday with friends....fully expecting to see a transfer late afternoon. NADA. I have extended the deadline until supper time tonight. I’m with Jacob with positive thinking .....IT CAN HAPPEN ! Need ALL to see it come to fruition. Get to meditating.

As far as Jessika Carter (who I had noticed was much less active out on twitter), in addition to liking tweets about Johnnie Harris and Ketara Chapel heading over to Auburn, she also "liked" tweets about the Hays sisters transferring to MSU. Don't believe she "liked" any tweets regarding the new MSU assistant coaching hires.

Time will tell if that means anything . . .

Bad news for Karisma. Doesn't help her transfer opportunities if she has to sit a year.

I'm choosing to just hope that we'll get what we need. I have a specific wish list but I don't want to jinx anything.

I wouldn't think she'd have to sit as she's grad transferring (did they do away with that?). Also, I haven't been able to find a specific reference to it but I'd think that athletes who transferred and sat a year prior to the rule change would be given immediate eligibility for their 2nd transfer but it's the NCAA so can't bank on common sense being a factor.

I'm not certain you were wrong about the Vic/Mulkey compatibility. It's difficult for me to imagine Mulkey guarding anyone full-court with her mobility issues. It was difficult to watch teams exploiting Charlie all season for the same reason.

Not convinced the "following" means anything.

Teaira McCowan isn't exactly nimble- or fleet-footed and she did rather well in Vic's system at MSU. I'd assume they would use Mulkey the same - in the full court, she'd be at the defensive end of the court at the top of the key or free throw line as the last line of defense should the press get broken.

According to The Wall Street Journal, as of April 12 there was 863 women players in the transfer portal. That is one of every six players. After the approval of the transfer rule, I imagine the numbers will increase significantly. I imagine the numbers and percentages will increase year over year. Get ready for the ride. I am not greedy. I just want Texas WBB to get all the best transfers. Leave the others to Baylor.

Could be DFW, but that is certainly not how Charlie was used all season. She routinely played on the opponent's end guarding a player who easily outmaneuvered her to accept the in-bound pass while the D was struggling to deny.

I think the best coaches know how to utilize their players according to their abilities... putting them in position(s) to succeed rather than pigeon-holing them to the point of failure. If this staff is in pursuit of N. Mulkey, trust me they have solid plans for her skill set.

Nobody knows full-court D better than Vic, but this had me scratching my sore head all season.

Personally, I was kind of glad we limited our full court press down the stretch; we just didn't have the depth to use it much. And, that actually helped keep us out of foul trouble. Hopefully, that changes next season.

As for Ebo and Collier being part of the full court press, that only made sense if the opponent's post player(s) were trying to help inbound the ball in the back court; otherwise, I'd be happier if they just returned to defend the paint and conserve energy.

So, if Mulkey is the best Center transfer we can get, I'm all for it. Plus, she only has one year of eligibility remaining so its not a huge scholarship commitment, and doesn't affect the 2022 signing class numbers.

I can't argue with anything you said, contingent on understanding Vic had to play with the team he inherited, not the "guard them when they get off the bus" brand of bball he wants to bring to the 40 to fill the seats. I'm just saying Mulkey seems to be an unlikely candidate to achieve that aim. We'll see.

I can almost guarantee you Vic & Co is not looking for roster fillers. If they grab transfers out of the portal I highly suspect they'll be people who can make a difference right away.

That's a given but begs the point. Is Texas recruiting Mulkey? I doubt it.

But I'm willing to quote the infamous words of hoopsalot, "Guess I was wrong again."
