Speaking of buying favor, I see Congress will vote on H.B. 40 (for 40 acres and a mule, i.e. reparations) today. The Dems are determined to bankrupt America even as it burns in Minnesota and else where. I wonder how many white politicians will have the guts to vote it down?
The Burleson officer NEVER HAD A CHANCE to return fire. Further, when Elders was apprehended, it was not while he was in the stolen vehicle. He had bailed to run into the woods, at which time I expect he heard something along the lines of "Elders, get your MF'ing *** on the ground before I blow it away." Yeah, you can expect body cam footage is going to contain less that professional direction and orders. But the bottom line is that it will ALSO show that Elders complied WITH the orders given. I have not heard whether the K9 unit had been called out but most fleeing criminals in Texas ALSO know that, once the dogs are called and released, you WILL be bitten multiple times. In some respects, this is the same sort of thing as when we had convicts on the fence when I worked for the prison system. The picket officer went through three steps- the direction to stop and drop, the warning shot and then the shot to the body. We had one in Lamesa that still kept running and got a fist-sized hole in his leg for his efforts...he didn't believe the picket officer would pull the trigger because he was in chopped-down cotton fields. He is the exception. MOST trying to escape promptly stop and drop once the warning shot was fired... I have no doubt that Elders knew he is going to prison for the rest of his miserable life, but that a decade or so on the Row is STILL better than being carried out in a bag from what passes for the woods of Cooke County.
B&J literally had the mission of being ice cream SJW's since day one. It's not like they're Coke and suddenly changed teams. I figured everyone knew that Ben and Jerry were hippies.
Again, I'm not sure if you're disagreeing with me or just shedding more light on the event. If your implication is that officers can get shot in the line of duty, and thus, Potter was primed for deadly force against Wright, then I won't disagree with that. If we're being results-oriented, Wright wasn't as much of a threat as Elders was. There are a lot of circumstances to consider with Ofc. Lott as well (time of day, location, no backup, etc.). Furthermore, when Elders was caught running... I'm not sure how we can twist that into "complying" with officers. Maybe you're right that he knew the game was up and decided he'd rather just lie down and get hauled off at that point. After, of course, attempting to murder a police officer, murdering a carjacked victim, and a litany of other things that Wright had not done (yet) when he was shot. While I haven't seen any footage of the Elders arrest, I don't think Wright's lack of compliance with trying to get back in the car even comes close to what Elders did. Your warning shot story doesn't seem to apply to either situation here. Potter thought she was tasing Wright, which seemed reasonable from the video. She made a mistake, for which she should be held accountable.
Ashli Babbit absolutely deserved to die. She was intent on physically harming government officials. Furthermore, if the police had done nothing, all of her compatriots would have stormed the area and assaulted the Congressmen.
What was the cost for 40 acres and a mule back then plus interest up till today? I bet it’s been paid already.
He's a good dad, but keep in mind that giving thousands of dollars to UT does far more harm than buying a $4 pint of ice cream does.
My donations to the school ended years ago. Thankfully she chose a small private college that gave her nearly 100% in scholarships.
AB was part of a riotous mob and none of us know what her specific intent or goal was. She probably had no conscious desire other than to register opposition. When a dam breaks the water does not know where it is going or where it will end up lots of drops in this flood and one got shot. Was that necessary? No. On calm reflection was it a plausible risk? Yes did she expect it? No cops over react frequently because what can go wrong and kill them is something they always have in mind too bad she got killed. She should have stuck with voting and writing letters and deal with the reality that in politics in an electoral democracy you rarely get what you like
And this is where I differ with a lot of "libs," which isn't even saying much compared to the average political leaning of this board.
Do you support the suppression of the identity of the officer and, if so, why? If Babbit had been a person of color and not an unarmed white female, would you still have asserted that she "deserved to die" and if not, what is the difference? And when are you going to use some of the $GME options profits to sponsor? Or did you also lie about making bank on $GME?
AH? What proof do you have Ashli intended to do physical harm. A gun? Any weapon? Any social media rant saying that? Seems you like to make up accusations to support your agenda
If Babbit deserved to die for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, Wright deserved to die for the same reason. Police can overreact to a situation, especially when it's a situation of your own making.
If Ashli Babbit was part of a mob of black protestors who stormed the capitol building, then I'd argue that the police should have mowed them down and sort out the bodies later. A mob attacking the capitol is a much different scenario than somebody running away from the police. Now if there was a cop in front of that car, then by all means light up the driver.
Yes if she was part of an antifa or BLM group that attacked the building, she should have been put down just the same as a white person. BTW, please tell me what I "lied" about I think it's hilarious that posters want to argue against my positions based on sponsorship. It's entertaining enough that I think I'll continue NOT to sponsor just out of pure entertainment value.
I don't think protesters should be mowed down. I don't support the property damage at the Capitol. But citizens should be able to go into the Capitol and protest. The police should have left. Or they should have been enough police to keep protesters out while Congress was still there. But murdering citizens is beyond the pale.
Ashli Babbit didn't "attack" the capital building anymore than BLM/Antifa rioters attacked the Federal Courthouse in Portland or that burned down police stations across the country. Had Babbit been Black there would be riots over the cop not being charged. The capitol building is just that. A building. A life was taken over "property." We've been told over and over again that people are more important than property to justify burning and looting. Enough of the hypocrisy.
Whether or not someone "deserves to die" (or more accurately, can be justifiably killed by law enforcement) has to do with the threat that person immediately poses. My understanding is that she was shot while climbing through a window and (and I could be wrong on this) that the place she was breaking into had been evacuated. So I'm not sure what the immediate threat to death and serious bodily injury she posed. I'm not saying she didn't "deserve to die," but it's not a slam dunk by any stretch. Lol! Obviously sponsorship has no bearing on your argument, but I'll admit that the sponsorship shaming cracks me up.
I'll say this again so everyone can understand -- both the BLM protestors AND the Trump mob should have been put down before entering the building. Again I'm not hypocritical at all. Shoot black folks if they charge the capitol. Shoot white folks too. I'm in favor of equal opportunity distribution of 0.223/5.56/9mm rounds A lot of you guys want to shoot the BLM protestors who attack police stations while ignoring the white mob that stormed the capitol on Jan 6th You guys are the hypocrites, not me.
Were any of those clowns in the chambers? If they were, that's on them for being that stupid. There was no mention of the underground trams tot he office buildings being penetrated or invaded. Those would be much more difficult for the attackers to get to and control. Hell, even the Senate cafeteria doors are reinforced and lock.
At least A24 has values. Bad values yes, but he has his way. If I couldn’t afford to sponsor, I wouldn’t either.
There were people in the chamber when the Q idiot was shot, correct? I think Oklahoma's own MarkWayne was in there.
To be clear Dion runs this site almost single handedly works at another job and doesn't get paid to do this here at HF If someone likes HF enough to come here and postswhy should't they contribute? It is NOT sponsor shaming It is trying to help Dion to keep this place going. It is insulting to suggest othewrise.
