A crowd of 25,271 begins to fill Colt Stadium before the franchise debut of the Houston Colt .45s on April 10, 1962. Here, boys gather to get the autograph of second baseman Joey Amalfitano.

Thanks, LH, for that stroll down memory lane. I was selling popcorn on that very warm Spring afternoon. The crowd was electric. Schantz was great. Mejias hit 2 HRs. We started 1-0, but ended up 64-96. But we finally had MLB in Houston!!

I came across so memorability from at later period today too. I was looking for something is my son's closet. There was a cardboard tube on the top shelf behind another box. I open it and shook out several rolled up Oiler's posters from 1978 along with pennants.

King Hill was the QB coach and part of the offense planning group. He had a son the same age as my son and King's wife and son took my wife and son to all the home games, Had pretty good seats and he got to go into the locker room after the game.

King died several years ago and my son is a middle aged attorney in Salt Lake, I am older than the hills.

I'm pretty sure I only paid 4 bucks to see Nolan Ryan's 7th No No May 1, 1991...bleacher seats though. The price of tickets baseball tickets these days is crazy.
