    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

CDC took action, made bold and much needed changes to create lasting and profound changes in semi-mediocre TCU athletics when he took over.

It got the attention of many colleges / universities including UT when they were in a search to replace a legacy AD.

CDC has been in his position at UT approx 2 - 2.5 years.

    So far he has replaced:

The Women's BB HC with Vic Shaefer, a proven winner that just got the Lady Horns to an Elite 8 finish!

Football: just got Steve Sarkasian who hired on many elite asst. coaches. He appears to be a very good fit. Upside looks very high!

Men's BB: got UT grad, Tom Penders player, & former successful TT HC Steve Beard. Upside is very high!

UT Men's Swimming - LEGENDARY HC - Eddie Reese, retires after a massive 15 NC's in 43 years!!! CDC will get to choose from a bunch of quality candidates to step into those coveted & BIG shoes.:hookem:

Did I miss any other program changes? Maybe Men's Tennis HC?

On LHN, I just learned DKR when he was AD in 1979, picked up Auburn swimming HC Eddie Reese at the Austin airport. DKR took him to Migas for breakfast, offered him the Swim HC job at UT and Reese accepted.

The rest is not just history, but GREAT HISTORY!

Chris "retired" the softball coach, and hired a new one, who took a team, which qualified for nothing the previous year, portaled in some stars from his previous stop, and had them ranked #1 last year when covid stopped the season. Another quality CDC hire.

I was wondering how does Eddie Reese compare with other legendary swimming coaches?
I must say 15 NCs is a whole lot.

Scott Drew would have NEVER made it past Temple for his job interview, and Chris would be the new AD at Adams State for thinking such a thing.

If you get a chance, you may enjoy watching an hour program with CDC and Lowell Galindo on LHN: Chris Del Conte Texas Athletics Town Hall. It aired just before the Spring Game and is most informative of all CDC, coaches, staff, and donors have accomplished in the past 2-ish years.

*Pardon me if this has been posted by someone else before now.

CDC was a great hire. Deloss was solid in what he could do and make happen and I think CDC is very similar. He handles himself well and made some great hires!

    Tap the brakes.
I agree with his moves on coaches. Good job in my opinion.

He was and is totally inept and feckless in handling the mutiny. Terrible job.

    Del Conte ain’t Dodds.

I agree that Chris is not Deloss, but no one is.

As far as his handling “the mutiny”, I was impressed considering the shackles put on him, and the fact that that he was dealing with a totally mutinous cretin running the ship.

Chris did everything he told me he would last August. None of us was pleased with the timeline, but considering dealing with the faculty/administration, I’m surprised things got done so quickly. I assure you that if Fenves hadn’t been sent packing, we would still be dealing with the **** and headed to a 3-9 season.

I remember a time when some of us (including me) thought that Dodds was not the juggernaut that he turned out to be.

I do believe that CDC may turn out to be the best we have seen. As to the insurrection of last summer, few ADs have had to navigate through something as complicated and challenging as that situation.

    And flush the John.

After we did flush the John, Deloss' hires of Mack Brown (though Deloss wanted Barnett, he was wise enough to accept DKR's counsel in the matter), Rick Barnes, and Augie Garrido not only saved his own *** from being fired, they cemented his legacy as a top notch AD.

First of all, Deloss Dodds NEVER hired any football coach at Texas, nor did he fire any. Mack Brown was hired by DKR. Mackovic was the sole responsibility of Willie Cunningham. David was DKR and some of David's friends. You are correct that Deloss and Tom Hicks wanted Barnett.

We were lucky to get Rick Barnes after the fiasco finding someone to take the job when Weltlich was hired. (I have come to believe that the joke of everyone, including the custodian at Pflugerville Middle School, turned us down is actually fact.

    Augie was originally Gus' choice.

Deloss was a track guy, but our track coach was hired by Weldon Smith, not Deloss.

He sure has exceeded the work a certain man named Patterson did. A guy that once told a multi million dollar donor in an interview, " You got 5 minutes, the clock
just started TICKING?!" What the %$#@#
