The Horns are the number one seed as the Big XII baseball tournament gets underway Tuesday. Horns get started Wednesday and will play the winner of the play-in game between WVU and KU. Games are all on ESPN+. Texas has probably already clinched a national seed but getting a couple of wins in the conference tournament would cinch that and winning it might even improve their likely 4-5 national seed up to the 3 or even the 2 spot. If the Horns can get to Omaha, then avoiding Arkansas who are a cinch to be the number one overall seed. for as long as possible would be nice which is an incentive to stay out of the 4-5 national seed spots. Big 12 Baseball Tournament 2021: Bracket, schedule, how to watch Big 12 baseball tournament: How to watch Texas play
WVU beat Kansas in the play in game so Texas will face the Mountaineers for the fourth straight time tomorrow at 4 pm. Texassports now has preview up for tournament: No. 2 Baseball preview: Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship - University of Texas Athletics
Early game today saw Tech beat Baylor 11-4. TCU currently playing K-State. The Texas that absolutely drilled WVU Friday and Saturday should show up and win pretty handily. I have chalked up the Thursday loss to WVU as a combination of an off night and rust from not having played for 10 days because of the rainouts and final exams. Having just seen WVU, Texas knows they can win and more importantly knows that they can lose if they have an off day so they will hopefully be on guard against that. The problem of course is that its baseball and if the WVU starter catches lightning in a bottle or if the Horns have an off day........
Why is it I can watch ND/VT, but not the Big XII? Please let the Big XII have a real commissioner before I die.
3:30 and TCU and K State are tied at 6 in top of seventh so Texas start time will be pushed back at least half an hour and maybe more depending on how long the Frogs and Cats take to get a winner.
West Virginia saved their ace for us. Smart move in a tourney when it works, but they almost lost their game versus Kansas last night.
Horns appear to have left their bats in Austin as they have just one hit headed to bottom of the fifth and trail 3-0.
I can get the game cast Down 3-1 in the top of the 7th, 2 outs nobody on Horns have 9 outs to work with
top of the 7th 2 outs 2 on. Quintanilla to pitch for Madden The worst of it is that Madden struck out batter #3, but he reached on the wild pitch. Then walked the next batter.
1 out runners on first and second Melendez walked, Williams reached on a fielder's choice; Hodo singled Faltine up to bat
Horns blowing a ton of chances, this is last Thursday all over again as Texas is finding ways to blow this game.
Top of the 8th; WVa singles, advances to second on a wild pitch (these are killing us tonight) and advanced to third on a pop up 1 out runner on third Witt to pitch
