Has anyone heard what the new official capacity of DKR will be given that we are just 3 months away from the completion of the SEZ expansion and start of the new season? I haven't heard or found anything. I do understand that there is not intended to be a real increase in capacity and that the SEZ project was meant to be more of an "enhancement to the overall gameday experience". I have to think that there will be a small increase, however. Pre-construction, the official capacity was a touch over 100K. Would like to see 103K just to piss off aggy, but realize that it probably won't be that high. Regardless, we do and will continue to have better facilities than the farmers and mechanics.

Don’t think we are going to be higher capacity than aggie.

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

Like OP said, I too think we should increase seating at DKR just enough to exceed the beloved tackle box called Pyle Field... mostly to rankle their sorry asses!!

Of course, if DKR seating capacity were to exceed that of Collie Field, aggy would just narrow the width of their seats to increase capacity. They've done it before.

Mary, Mother of God, why would anyone give a half a rat's *** what ag thinks? They can add another 500,000 seats to that WPA project of a practice field and it will still be "less than". That is, and has for more than a century been, their obsession with size. Freudian? Homoerotic? I mean, I think the boots sort of speak for themselves, as well as beating off into a jar for the bonfire.

But really, it's not like they have ever been able to fill the place up except with tee-shirt and band wagon fans. (If you really want to piss off a true Old Army type, ask him how many non-Texas sellouts that they ever had before the Ole Miss game in 1975).

But there has never been a day in history when there was anything about the two schools that we used as a measuring stick of where we needed to be. Ever.

I know this is a weird connection, but my stepmom's niece is one of the on-site construction managers. She also helped with the Circuit of the Americas before switching corporations. Like I said in another thread, they can't know the final count until they go through the muni and state laws for capacity (ppl per sq foot) for the standing/suite areas. Her best guess was somewhere between 101K and 102K, depending on how much they lost from Sections 1 and 32 and how much they "get back" with those raised platforms that now take up half of that area.

She said they could get really creative and count all of the "overlooking" areas from the athletic center windows and coaching offices.

If they had just copied the north end zone I think capacity would have been in the neighborhood of 120,000. They were clearly not going for simply increasing the number. Oh well, it does still look pretty cool.
