Big hit by Faltine. Lol and the ASU coach says - ok time for a lefty.

that’s weird, he looked like a lefty running from the BP

Wonder how many pitches from ASU have been balls so far. About the same number of runners LOB for Texas

BTW that Volvo climate-change commercial is irritating as hell.

Compare those guys to Witt, Nixon, and Cole. Even to Gordon and our 5th, 6th, and 7th relievers...

We’re really spoiled by this awesome pitching staff Pierce has recruited and developed.

Problem with Witt is he’s a straight down the middle FB pitcher. He better figure it out

Well Witt, if you gotta do that, do it with a 7 run lead...

The stache is back for ASU, and he’s throwing fast. Struck us out. Hope he gets out of that groove.

3 up 3 down for Witt in the 8th.
    Good job Witt!
    1 more inning to go.

Of course, a little insurance never hurts.

Great job by Witt settling down after the HR. Ump is ready to go home .

This is an absolutely crucial game. The loser must sleep poorly, wake up early, and win 2 games tomorrow, then win again on Monday.

If we were Texas A&M (and thankfully we’re not!), we’d have a bunch of rowdy noise makers waking ASU up every 30 minutes or so tonight at their hotel. Fortunately, UT doesn’t engage in that sort of bush league garbage.

Love the way Witt settled in after giving up the 2-run bomb in the 7th.

Huge win. 80% of the teams winning first 2 games in regional end up winning it. Nice DP to end it. Kept the BP fresh.

Horns have Hanson tomorrow, who has been Texas' best pitcher the last month, and also have a fully rested Quintanilla and Nixon for relief and closing both of whom haven't yet been used this weekend. Witt closing out last three innings of game was huge in keeping Texas' bullpen all but fully stocked with the exception of him for tomorrow and as needed Monday.

And Kubichek could also be used in relief as needed. (Though strategically, Pierce may save him for a possible fourth game starter).

This is not a normal college pitching staff.

And ASU or Fairfield will be pretty spent by tomorrow night and certainly by Monday if they were to make it there.

Who was the ASU pitcher channeling his inner Adam Driver (Kylo Ren)?

I feel pretty good with our setup for the next game and the second if required. With Florida being eliminated we are in a great position to end up in Omaha.

As we were leaving the ballpark, the PA announcer said that tomorrow night's game time had been changed to 8:00 PM, I assume for tv broadcast reasons.

We are looking mighty fine. Florida got demolished. Kevin Dunn was really high on them too. We are in a great position to get to "Cut that meat!" Omaha.

Poor call by the ump, we weren't even on the bag for the force. Shocked the Devils didn''t ask for a challenge. Not doing so killed momentum

I'm not sure why it's a problem when he has a 2.64 ERA. In fact, his numbers are almost identical to Madden's, just half as many inning pitched.

On the postgame show, they said NCAA moving both Sunday games back an hour to allow a little more rest time for ASU having to play so late on Sat nite (Sat night start was delayed over 2 hours).
