WATCH: H.S. baseball, softball playoff highlights & scores (May 20, 2021)
Some highlights of Citlaly Gutierrez in case some have not seen her pitch. Her team got the run rule victory after Citlaly struck out 15 of the 16 batters she faced. She is very very underrated Imo and should and will be ranked once she begins to attend more camps and get more exposure

Your opinions on if the quality of competition in softball correctly reflects the skills of incoming players?

Explicitly, Simpson (2021) is in 5A and Gutierrez (2022) is in 2A. I know that in football players that are monsters in 1A or 2A don't make realistic contributions when they get to college.

But we know that players like Simpson and Gutierrez play club. So is it really club that's the true gauge of a player?

They play a lot of club ball so it is the better gauge. However the pitchers in 2A winning games is still impressive because the defense behind her is usually terrible.

Gutierrez seems to throw really hard it pops the mitt.
Simpson throws hard as well but with more movement.

This has highlights of the game and an interview with Citlaly. Poor girl from Crawford just drops an in field pop up to give Stamford the 2 runs they need to go ahead! Devine intervention? Both teams had 4 errors.

I saw Katie Cimusz made the team for 2021 but I'm confused how Sophia Simpson didn't make it?? Curious if she chose not to participate or she was left out.

Its only for teams going to PGF this year. Hotshots organization are the only Texas team I believe that are going. The Bombers and most other teams are going to the Alliance Championship. Mia Scott, Sophia Simpson, Mya Holmes, Ashton Mahoney all made that all start game.

The Alliance all Star game is July 27 in OKC per this article. Vanessa Quiroga seems to be our only recruit not on an all Star team. She must be Coach White’s sleeper!

Vol Horn 4 Life Good Bye To All The Rest!

Yep, the national gold teams at 14U, 16U & 18U are typically ranked in the top 5 in the country every year but usually #1 or #2. The bombers pretty much get their pick of who they want. My daughter played in this organization on the National Gold Elite and Houston gold teams. The top 5-8 teams in that organization at just about every age group can pretty much beat any other team in the country on any day.

Cat Osterman also recently signed as part of the coaching staff and Director of Pitching Performance for the Bombers!

It dawned on me that most of these players didn't get their official visit as campuses were mostly remote and COVID restrictions for visitors. So, this batch will be signing in November.

I really look forward to getting Maddie on Campus! This girl is constantly in her Texas gear and retweeting and posting stuff about Texas. Love that enthusiasm and commitment!

I agree seems like a real good culture player. Ranked number 75 by Extra Innings. I dont put much weight into these because they are less scouted and more about what the club coach push.

T-75—Maddie Pomykalski, IF/OF, West Bay Warriors (Texas)
Maddie was a standout on the Chicago Cheetahs last year but when the team aged out she found a team to her liking in the West Bay Warriors in Northern California. She has had explosive offensive outburst this year including one stretch where she went 7-for-10 with two home runs and eight RBIs for her Lincoln Way East (Frankford, Illinois) High team and as chronicled in this Recruiting Spotlight from August, she all but clinched a scholarship to the University of Texas when she had a day to remember at the Triple Crown tourney earlier this year when she smashed four home runs, hit a double and triple with 8 RBIs in two games with the Longhorn coaches watching. For the Spring and Summer (combining high school and club play), Maddie batted .440 with 13 homers, 22 doubles, seven triples and hit 52 RBIs in 59 games.

[IMG]T-36—Citlaly Gutierrez, P, Texas Bombers – Smith (Texas)
Citlaly played for James Burgess’s Bombers team last year and was relatively unknown until this past Summer when she helped her team to a Top 10 finish at Alliance Nationals. The 5-foot-11 pitcher has a good riseball and off-speed stuff while throwing in the mid-60’s. She was discovered by the Bombers staff playing for a small team in New Mexico before joining the Texas-based club power and then, after moving to Texas, helped her Stamford High team win the 2A state championship by throwing a complete game with 14 K’s and hitting a key home run in the 5-4 title game. Ironically, the championship was held where she will play her college ball, at McCombs Field on the University of Texas campus.

T-17—Leighann Goode, IF, Texas Bombers – Smith (Texas)
Leighann is from San Antonio and can get it done on offense and defense. She played soccer when younger and has the quick, explosive movements that serve her well playing in the infield and making her way around the base paths. The future Longhorn has a plus arm at shortstop and has been converted to play third base as well so versatility is a strength for the excellent all-around athlete. Leighann has power to all fields and last Summer hit .357 for the Bombers with six home runs and 53 RBIs. She’s a right-handed hitter who runs well with her plus speed—been clocked at 2.7 home-to-first—and has been described by her coaches as a “hard-nosed player.” Click HERE to read more about Leighann in an Extra Star Power article done last year.

[IMG]T-5—Reese Atwood, C, Hotshots Premier (Texas)
Reese is a 6-foot-1 catcher who has not just a great frame but a burning desire to make her pitcher as successful as she can be. The senior does it all defensively and offensively thanks to her plus plus tools in all parts of her game. She has been clocked with a 1.7 second pop time and at one point for the Hotshots out of Texas she was 9-for-13 in nailing runners at second or third. With the bat, the senior at Tuloso-Midway High in Corpus Christi, Texas, hits for power and is usually found in the cleanup or 5-spot in the lineup. Reese made the 2021 Extra Inning Softball All-Summer Team (18U) after she hit .456 with 47 total hits including nine home runs and 13 doubles and scored 24 runs while driving in 34. Like many in the Hotshots organization, she has won multiple national championships; for Reese, it’s three.
