I'm in an Eric Clapton mood today.... so been digging on 461 Ocean Blvd. and Best of EC.

Man I love Clapton's and Roger McGuinn of the Byrds guitar licks the best.

Some samples of a few Clapton favs:

Love every song on this album - monster hit album for The Doors early summer 1967! IIRC was released just before Sgt. Pepper's by a little band Paul McCarthy was in before Wings ;)

I’ll play. I dedicate “fool on the hill” by the Beatles. It’s all in jest SH, take it in stride. You can come back with “stupid boy” for me, I’m cool with that.

More classic Austin stuff tonight. Way too genuine country and too original for corporate Nashville. Alvin Crow:

Ol' Alvin was also instrumental in propelling none other than George Strait to musical stardom.

One day in 1975 at a private party in San Marcos, Crow realized the band would not finish playing a party gig in time to start playing their evening performance at the Broken Spoke.
“It was early in the day. I called James (White) up trying to figure out how I could play both gigs. I wanted to play the party earlier – which was a good payin’ gig and the Broken Spoke on I guess a Saturday night,” Crow said.
“So, I knew about this little band in San Marcos called the Ace in the Hole band. George Strait was the lead singer and I liked him a lot and I knew James would too. Strait’s vocals kinda ran along a good track for country music as far as I was concerned. So I thought, if we could get George Strait to play for the first hour or so, we could go in and finish the night at the Broken Spoke.”
White said that night marked Strait’s first performance followed by dozens of others that spanned seven years at the Broken Spoke, until the star became too expensive to book anymore.

I'd say that song is the least likely song for Megadeth or Black Sabbath to ever do a cover of...

I never have liked heavy metal, speed metal any of that stuff. Just alternative rock, indie rock, punk rock from 70’s, 80’s, reggea, jazz, country.

Smooth sounds this morning as I work from home office.... this album always reminds me of college days. There was a little jazz joint on Greenville Ave. in Dallas called Popsicles Toes in the 70's... no doubt inspired by Franks song by the same name. The Art of Tea was a go-to for setting a late evening mood.....

In Popsicles Toes he geographically describes his woman's body...

Below are some of his greatest hits if your intrigued:

Right now, in this very moment, my mind is full of The Smiths; specifically Johnny Marr's Rickenbacker.
