Now that we’re locked arm and arm with OU as we stroll together into the SEC, do we now have to root for them against Bama, LSU, Georgia, Florida? Or does the hate resume?

To be included in the SEC, one must always put the greater good of the SEC ahead of his own team. So, yes, you must pull for OU for the betterment of the conference.

But he's asking when OU plays other SEC teams. I'm never rooting for OU even when they play aggy. The only exception - not even really that - is when OU is already ahead by a lot on aggy. Then I want OU to score more as 77-0 was brilliant in 2003.

Texas will be the laughing stock, or is it stalk, of The Great Conference when the fans do not assimilate.

Sorry, people, I have almost always pulled for OU. I told Switzer that I wanted him to win every game except one, and I wanted that to stick in his gut for a full year.

As a Texas fan I have nothing against the SEC teams. I have a big problem with OU so I will pull for whoever they are playing.

Most of us have said for years that the SEC is overrated and over hyped. If OU loses to the big dogs there, then we are all stupid idoits. Oddly, that would be why we pull for OU.

Frankly I would like to see both OU and Texas manhandle the league for the first couple of years. After, OU could just smack down the Aggies hard every year, which I expect. That is, unless somehow an Aggie victory in that game would help us. If/when that scenario materializes, I will be confronted with a massive dilemma.

I already cheer for OU as long as a) they are not playing us or b) they are playing for an NC. Other than that, I like OU. They are 1/2 of the greatest rivalry in all of sports. They are the UT of Oklahoma. They also get everyone's best shot every week. a$m has no clue what that's like.

I never have understood the hate for the sooners; it is like a&m's hate for us in that it is irrational. They are the main university of the state right next door and a pretty good school. Oklahoma seems to me to be largely indistinguishable from north Texas. And they take their football seriously and have bested us more often than not of late. No problem rooting for them against everybody else.

My favorite game that was not UT was the 77-0 mercy killing they did on the ags, when they could have scored a hundred. I watched on tv and listened to Dave South on the radio. Maybe Dave's greatest moment ever.

This would be more convincing if you called us all bedwetters like you usually do.

How many titles and BCS votes etc ahead of Texas does OU have to get before people around here see that no good ever comes from pulling for those dirty *** land thieving, mobile home dwelling, meth head toothless buffoons?

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

Hey I get wanting ou to win to make UT look better when we beat 'em. I tend to feel more that way when the Horns are beating them more often than the last 10 years and the Horns winning some conference championships (last one 2009). But mostly I cannot ever pull for them.

However, when all eyes are on UT & ou as they enter the SEC, I won't mind seeing ou bloody the nose of some of those teams, especially lsu, aggy, arky & bama. It will make us look better, but we too need to beat those teams or it's a hollow view.

I agree with the last couple posters in that I can pull for OU whenever they aren't playing us. Part of that is driven by the fact I've been married to a Sooner fan for over 25 years, but the other part goes back to what I've always thought drives whether you hate the farmers or OU more - how were we doing against them when you were a child and/or actually a student at UT? When I was younger and then on the 40 we were competitive to dominant in Dallas but had a rough patch against the ags. As a result, my hatred developed a LOT deeper and hotter toward a&m.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, OU can win unless they're playing us, and I hope the campus in College Station burns to the ground. I don't want anyone to get hurt, just remove their presence from the map. One thing a lot of folks are excited about with the SEC move is playing them again - I'd actually vote to send them off somewhere we never see their redneck, Hitler youth, farm animal loving asses again. No desire to ever play them, in anything, ever.

But hey, that's just my $0.02...

I think I was one of the previous couple, and I don't pull for those ********. Screw em. Agree with the rest, even though I hated them in the 80s too. Criminal organization and that obnoxious Bozworth and Switzer.

Nope, always root for an OU loss. Even if both join the SEC, and it would help the league for an OU bowl win - I'll still hope they lose in a disgraceful fashion. And I hope they do the same for us. It's a rivalry of respect on the field for two top programs, but utter dislike on both sides, the way it should be.

Right. No one else in the country will judge Texas's season based on how OU does and vice versa. Kick their sorry asses and win the rest. That's all that matters.

Playing aggie is the only circumstance in which I am .... well not rooting for OU ... but not actively cheering against them.

The rest of the time :ousucks:

Only if it somehow benefits Texas. But, then Texas manages to lose and that goes out the window.

All you are left with is the dirty stink of having rooted for them.

    HIC,

I thought you were my friend, then you go off talking about my relatives like that? BTW, you should know that the only ones that live in a mobile home are the ones who have already got their workers comp settlement.

HIC seems to have them confused with some of the fans of that school in Arkansas.

As for land thieving, I had relative killed in the Texas Revolution and he did not come here for the climate. My great great great grandfather got his start in life by getting the land from the state as a result of his pop getting shot and/or bayonetted at Goliad. Land thieves; first from the Mexicans and then from the Comanches.

And the Sooners weren't thieves, they were just gun jumpers. They were all going to get some land, they just wanted better land. They should have come to Texas.

As for mobile homes, for some of us who once lived in houses without indoor plumbing and had single holers in the back yard, a mobile home was a step up. I would also have taken a trailer over some of the dumps in West Campus I lived in.
