I remember the Giants signed Henry Carr to play DB (don't think he had ever played football before). He was previous record holder at 9.3. We went to the Cotton Bowl and Don Meredith got us seats in Section 21. Hayes burned Carr like a West Coast tender box. Experiment over.

Sidebar, that is the first time I saw Cowboy ???. He wasn't dressed up and was selling beer in the endzone seats. He tried to lead cheers. Of course, he would later become a Dallas icon without the beer but with the cowboy getup.

I still like those old uniforms better than what they wear now.

I agree, even though I never watch the Cowboys or the NFL any more. Those old 60s Cowboy uniforms were absolute classics.

The original uniforms or the new ones they came out with in 1965 (or 1966)? My father took us to the first Cowboy game in 1960. As I remember they played the Steelers and lost. The stands at the Cotton Bowl were not full either.

1:43 mark ... not just blazing fast, but pretty shifty, too.
