If this is a big deal, post your tax returns for all to see and criticize.

I'm all for privacy when it comes to such matters, but you seem to be relentless on seeing his returns. If you don't think it's a big deal then post it up

I didn't run for POTUS and promise to release my tax returns. If/when I do I'll happily fulfill my commitment though.

But a critic of the President could have motivation via ties to Russia. Why are you hiding?

I check back, and this is what you post? ....what are you hiding? Post it up husker.

Obviously you want Trump to be subjected to rules you won't abide by yourself. Why would that be....hmm. Hypocrisy, something you post about quite often. Look in the mirror

    Hypocrisy - Wikipedia

Hypocrisy is the practice of engaging in the same behavior or activity for which one criticizes another or the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform.

Look everyone is a hypocrite about something. What I don't get is why a partisan group like Congress gets to look at the tax returns of who's now a private citizen.

It's the IRS' job to look over tax returns, and approve, ask for additional data, or instigate proceedings if they think tax fraud has occurred. Not for elected gas bags like the fossils in the House Democrat party to get to have their staffers (those gas bags couldn't understand a 1040EZ) rummage over ever line item, all whist leaking it to the press who then runs off with some half-baked story, that turns out to be fake.

Maybe because they requested them YEARS ago and he promised to release them as soon as the audit was over.

I'm on topic. You are using 2 sets of standards here when it comes to releasing tax returns. One for you, one for a politician you despise.

Neither tax return interests me, but you're obsession with Trump is unhealthy at best

Also being ignored is that Trump did release the names of all of his lenders and other information related to foreign influence.

Why would Trump release his tax returns when the media will do nothing but try to find something in there to embarrass him? If I was him I wouldn't release them either.

To be on topic and your accusation of hypocrisy to actually apply you'd need to have proof that I promised to share them. Please link my commitment. Absent that your making stuff up to try and land a "shot". There is a word for people who make stuff up. Land your shot, prove that I'm a hypocrite by showimg everyone that both Trump and I committed to showing our tax returns. If not, you're welcome to walk back the accusation and we'll call it good. Should you choose you to not walk it back I might feel compelled to "depants" you in front of the board with a breakdown of your misuse of the English language.

I'm not a fan of the returns being released through what is obviously a partisan mechanism, and I struggle to see the relevance of them to Congress at this point. However, other presidential candidates have generally released theirs, and Trump promised to release his. It's not hypocritical to say he should keep his promise.

LOL, not walking anything back. You're still so focused on Trump, it's hilarious.

Show your tax returns if this is such a big deal. If you don't, your hypocrisy is showing again

Also is the tax audit over? I don’t think it is. I could be wrong but attorneys tend to draw things out over a long period of time.

I consider both statements lies. One has bigger consequences for American citizens.

The whole audit angle warrants some examination. First, being under audit does not bar one from releasing tax returns, though Trump sometimes claimed that it did. A tax attorney would likely advise against doing so to avoid further scrutiny of the return by the public, but there's no law against doing so while under audit. Frankly, a tax attorney would likely advise against doing so regardless of an audit, because he wouldn't want further scrutiny to trigger an audit or other action by the IRS. However, the whole purpose of candidates releasing returns is to invite scrutiny by the public. It's to show the public how you made your money and that you pay your taxes. FWIW, Nixon released his returns while under audit.

Second, Trump didn't always condition the release of his returns on the audit. There were times that he promised to release them based on other conditions (which have been met) or other time frames. (This is part of the problem with rhetorical sloppiness.)

Third, our political media is full of idiots, who never thought to push the issue, but when Trump brought up the audit excuse, somebody should have asked for specificity. Which audit is holding up the release of which return?

Trump is a very wealthy man and almost surely has very complicated returns that frequently trigger audits. There's a good chance that he's under audit for some issue on some return virtually all the time. But is every tax year of his entire life under audit? Obviously not. Even if you accept the audit excuse, he could have released the returns that aren't under audit.

The reality is that Trump's refusal to release his returns is a political calculation and nothing more. He believes (and probably correctly) that anyone who's asking for his returns isn't receptive to voting for him anyway. Only his political enemies care to see them and for no purpose other than to fish for dirt. He also believes (again, correctly) that his base doesn't care if he releases them. In short, nothing good can come from him releasing them, and nothing bad can come from not releasing them. Personally, I care if a politician keeps his promises, but the typical dumbass in the voting booth doesn't. He or she is voting on how a candidate makes him or her feel, not anything substantive nor the candidate's character.

    I agree.

Yes the audit was a lousy excuse not to turn over his tax returns but he knew it was political fodder to begin with. He should of said I am not turning over my tax returns under any circumstances, tax returns doesn’t mean you would be a good President.

Holy cow! Recall I said it would fit the times for a dem senator to die and be replaced by a GOP gov to kill Biden’s agenda. I never thought it would be California!

“California's 88-year-old senior senator, Dianne Feinstein, is widely understood to be in poor health and suffering from cognitive decline as she — with increasing difficulty — navigates the U.S. Senate, now evenly split between the two parties. Under state law, if she dies or otherwise leaves her seat vacant, the governor gets to appoint the replacement. In a worst-case scenario, a Republican becomes governor when the recall election results are certified in October and thus, for at least the next 14 months, would have the power to select Feinstein's replacement, thereby once again making Mitch McConnell the Senate majority leader.”

If Democrats had brains, she'd retire before October so Newsom would get the pick the replacement. That's a big IF.

Hey. So if Trump has to release his tax returns for no real good reason.... how about Biden release his tax returns, medical records, meds he is taking?

After all the Left insisted Trump was crazy and needed a medical competency test. How about Joe having that test? Maybe someone previously posted this?
If so fine, no apology, the suggestion needs to be reinforced!

    Joe is: NON COMPOS MENTIS.
