Great to see the number of players get in the game who are 2nd and 3rd stringers. We had 620 total yards on offence!

    Rice had 284 total yards.

I think this game was a perfect storm where we played an offense that lost its top two QBs and wasn’t very good with the starter to begin with. So we were able to pound with the run game, they over pursued and gave up a couple of big plays, and all of a sudden we’re up 23-0 and the game is essentially over.

I think the running game looks a lot better when the other team is slow when it’s fresh and dead when it’s worn out. I expect us to play well at home against Tech, but I don’t see us putting up 300 rushing and all of a sudden road-grading everything in front of us. I hope I’m wrong.

Isn't Casey 31-41, about 450 yards, 7 TDs (+2 rushing), 1 INT, in his last 4 games, going back to Alamo bowl? (we may have only punted once or twice in all those 20+ drives)

Probably not. But a lot of guys had playing time, got that first contact out of the way and will be ready to step up in the future if needed. They did well and relied on their training to get in the right place to get the job done.

We had some backs really want it tonight. That and a line opening just enough holes makes for a good day on the rushing farm! Casey managed the offense very effectively. Tech will be a different test. With a genuine effort by the whole team we can win, but that’s what it will take because our defense is not going to shut them out.

Loved that Gary Clark, Jr feature but where was the Rice band? I always enjoyed seeing the MOB.

Speaking of El Patio, earlier today I ate there—and I hesitate to mention this—for the first time ever. Thought I had better patronize them before they threaten to go out of business again.

Well, after watching the game, thanks to Dionysus, and looking at the box scores of the other Big 12 games, I am feeling pretty good about Kansas.

Rice was not a rolling ball of butcher knives and I did not see us dominate either the OL or the DL

It was 30-0 before the first touchdown pass. 427 yards rushing vs 193 in the air? Casey didn’t orchestrate this victory. Glad for him to get a start. NOW, if he goes out and dismantles Tech that’ll be a start, but TCU/Oklahoma/OK State three games in a row will show where the rubber meets the road…

One of Bijans touchdowns near the goal line reminded me of his high school highlights. Rice is not a good football team. Tech will tackle better next week, so our offensive line and running back play will be a more accurately tested.

if we could have run like that against piggie, Hudson would still be the starter.

I'm of the opinion we couldn't run like this against piggie because piggie is way better than Rice. That's why, as happy as I am we obliterated the Owls, I'm not going all euphoric over the victory.

    This is correct.
Card looked a lot better vs ULa than Thompson looked vs Rice. (Much better team)
So then, the question is, how do you interpret the Arkansas game?

Seeing Casey get blown up by Rice whenever he wanted to go downfield—once with the INT—you think he would have fared well against Arkansas last week?

For psychological reasons, we needed to change QBs so as to make it seem that we could dismiss the Arkansas result as “having the wrong QB,” but in truth, Card is still our better quarterback.
I do wish Casey the best, but he will melt just like Hudson did if he faces a jailbreak every pass play.
