I know that Bijan is everyone's darling, a tackle breaking machine and chain mover but k rob would be a starter on any team. I would like to see him get more touches especially in open space with the ball.

    Casey is our guy.

Unless and until Casey starts choking in real game action (not practice), he’ll be our #1 QB.

We certainly better utililized our weapons last night. What we did last night with worthy, i was calling before the season started. Why did we wait til the third game to call his number like we did?
I'll be honest with you i am not as enamored with Sark as i once was. He's got plenty of weapons to make use of and i am still pissed he didnt put Thompson in earlier in the piggie game.
So lets keep targeting Worthy and get k rob more touches and we can use Wiley more. He's 6-7 it would be easy to drop lob passes to him for first downs and touchdowns. And he's got good hands. He made a nice catch along the sidelines for a six yard gain nobody talked about. He is NFL material.

I would say that everyone knows that's a done deal.
And before the season started i was one of the ones calling for Thompson to start knowing that eventually Card would be the starter. I didn't know how right i was. Card just needs more time to loosen up and let it all hang out as they say.

If the blocking is at least decent (or close to decent), Casey will do pretty well.

The OL is at the center of our problems.

Good win by Texas. Yes it was a bad opponent, but as said, lots of times in the past 5 years Texas has played down to the level of bad teams.

Off to conference play. 9-3 would be a good season, with a decent bowl and a win there. Then B12 title next year.

Rice hangs tough with Arkansas for three quarters.
    Arkansas mudholes Texas.
    Texas mudholes Rice.

At least one of these three games was an anomaly. The question is which.

I think folks are underestimating the value of having Thompson at QB. As I have been saying, until I see otherwise, I will believe that Thompson if it is a difference-maker and that he has underrated leadership and passing skills.

I believe that had he started against the Hogs, the psyche would’ve been different and Texas would’ve won that game.

We’re getting ready to find out how good he is, or isn’t. I think that simply he’s a winner and that he is going to surprise a whole bunch of people.

Both the arky vs Rice and Texas vs Arky games are anomalies. Both due to lack of preparation for the opponent at hand. You might even be able to argue Texas won by 58 points over Rice to prove they aren't as bad as they played in Fayettenam. We were flinging it downfield with 2 min left in the first half with a 37 point lead.

Well if we win the rest of our games not only would we get into the playoffs but Thompson would win the heisman. Just sayin.
We got a new sheriff in town and that makes all the difference.
Stick that in the naysayers pipe and smoke it.

Because you simply can't play the if A>B>C then A>>C game. Especially this early in the season. It's more about different schemes and matchups and getting into your system.

Of course my prejudice toward Casey is showing but I feel as though, from where I sit as merely a fan Casey simply looks more composed, more in and under control than what I see with card out there, even last night. Granted card may have more physical intangibles, so did Simms, but until proven otherwise I’m solid for Casey (but not against Card).

Also remember, Sark doesn’t run 85% of the offense through the QB like Herman did. Thompson runs when he has to and makes all the throws. He has never hurt the team with his play. The team responds better when he’s out there.

I do think this team is different with Casey. Just a better energy with him and the dude is a gamer. Three takeaways from me were:
    • More outside zone runs. Line seems to be better at that and it offers more cutback opportunities for any of our backs
    • More touches for Xavier and Wiley. Wiley is a matchup nightmare no matter who we face
    • KR needs to see real meaningful playing time. Speed demon and the kid has an absolute motor. Notice his effort on the block punt. He wants to play so bad

Truly all our backs showed they want to play. The freshman made some incredible cuts - Bijan esq.

But when asked if Casey had solidified the starting job he went back to "evaluating" and yada, yada, yada.

Casey's a gamer. He's loose. He's playing to win rather than playing not-to-lose. There may be some James Brown, Vince Young (Jr./Sr. year), or Sam E. in his QB psyche.

He would probably go from being good to very good if the coaches can drill into him to throw the ball away if he has nowhere to run and nobody is open (rather than try to thread the needle, force a throw, or get an INT). He's not too bad about that now. But sometimes you can just kind of feel that he's trying to do too much when it's just not there.

Bottom line: Casey's our guy, and it's looking positive.

I thought it was cool in his post game interview when he admitted the throw to Worthy for the TD was not something they’d practiced but that the two of them had kinda planned between them if the situation presented itself.

Wiley didn’t play or didn’t play much last week against arky as he was hurt. Regardless the TE didn’t seem to be part of the offense last week.

People are forgetting Card was off on his throws last week. It wasn’t just the OL that was terrible.

Is Daniel Young hurt? Surprised we went to our 5th string RB but didn't give him a single touch. He's kind of fallen behind younger and faster guys lately but he was a big part of our West Virginia and Missouri wins in 2017 and USC and Tulsa in 2018.

Jonathan Brooks (true Freshman RB, Halletsville) is a special athlete with talent level in the same ballpark of the two Robinsons and J. Whitt. Glad to see him get the ball, score a TD, and get into the swing of things already.

Danny Young could be quite useful in short yardage situations. He has certainly bled for the team as Mack Brown would put it. I think everybody remembers why he stopped getting carries, but that shouldn't be held against him by the new regime, this year.
