Vol Horn 4 Life Good Bye To All The Rest!

Last night I scalped cheap seats in the east side Texas Club area in section 29C. As usual, for as long as I can remember, the students were packing in the lower east side student sections regardless of where they drew seats. This has been going on for as long as I can remember but last night there was an unusual amount of students flooding the 50 yd line seats. As it continued to grow with no where to go, students started hopping the club seat railing and the regular donors/seat owners went ballistic which started kind of a mini shouting match.

Apparently in the first week students flooded the club seats taking over going into the club eating the food, etc. Then when security started trying to get them out it started a keystone cops kind of thing with students running around and jumping over tables, etc. I assume when CDC said there were problems that week this was on this is one of the problems he was talking about. Fast forward to last night and I wasn't sure what was going on but the students just got really ugly and combative which caused the ticket holders to go off. Students started sitting and standing on the railing purposefully blocking the view which all in all ended up in UTPD being called in. Students cussing, flipping birds, etc almost caused a fight.

Finally event staff showed up and started checking wrist bands while some other dude in some security shirt I didn't recognize started going through the student section kicking anyone out that didn't belong there. For the next two quarters a constant stream of students tried to get through and every single one of them seemed pissed they couldn't get through.

Two things, if this happened in the first week and CDC recognized there were issues, it seems like there specifically would have been a security presence there this week to prevent it from happening again.

Secondly, when did the students get so entitled they think they can just do whatever they want? When I was in the student sections we would pack everyone in, but when it was full we'd just go somewhere else and sit where there was room. I nor anyone I knew ever thought about invading ticket holder spaces.

Well, in my days at the 40, it was not uncommon for some UT students (on occasion) to shower the opposing fans and bands sitting below them with coke, water, etc. Especially when the opponent was UH or aTm. Never any physical violence though--I generally associate that with Big 10 country.

As far as I can recall, we respected our own--it was understood that they were the ones who built what we were enjoying.

Unfortunately this is part of the coarsening of society & lack of civility that has been growing for a while. Many parents now-a-days don't teach youngsters about respect, boundaries, rules, manners / etiquette ... much less you just cannot go out and do anything in public you want.

That's probably due to their parents being the same way. That's where they learned it.

Behavior is highly circumstantial. I've never hurt anyone, but given the right situation, circumstances and motivation I might crush someone's skull with a sledge hammer. We see what we xan get by with and a few thought leaders push the envelope. ... they get rewarded for it and there is chaos.

I'm around a lot of affluent, high-achieving young people in Higland Village area. Good manners and respect for adults is the norm. The kids my son was around were Boy Scouts, church and high school marching band. Maybe the entitled jerks are missing something.

Listen, I blame the parents. My kids know how to connect with, hang out with, and be respectful of we old people. They wouldn't dare take a seat from a higher paying fan or treat them like enemies.

    Their parents should be ashamed.

I'd kick my son's *** if he did this. Not a true *** whooping, but he'd be in the doghouse for weeks and probably lose money, car, etc.

Students who misbehaved so egregiously should have the equivalent of the Animal House visit to Dean Wormer's office. Losing game privileges and or fines would seem appropriate.

I blame Beavis & Butthead for being a bad influence on this nation’s youth. And I blame the Simpsons, too (but mostly for outstaying their welcome.)

Agree, my grown sons were grounded and respectful of everyone, especially us "mature" people. Furthermore, I would hope if they were among that crowd they would try to intervene and at least get their peers attention that their action is wrong and maybe slow it down / try to help stop it.

As far as students and entitlement they have been taught it is all about them and whatever they want for years now in public schools.
As for the ramifications....someone needs to alert CDC.
We don't play that out here....
My just turned 7 daughter was taught the art of toilet cleaning just today.
    Think she feels entitled?
