    That we are 3-1?
    I think i am.
With Arky, i think what could have been.
Before the Arky game, on a scale of 1-10 with ten being high, i had the coaching staff (game wise) at about 9. But afterwards i had them at about 3. I was deeply disappointed with in-game decisions.
I know they wanted to stick with the pre-game plan. They waited way too long to adjust.
Now that i have said that, my faith in the staff has revived, after these last two games. The offense is humming. Play calls excellent. The pace just about perfect. The opposition has little time to think and adjust, keeping the defense on their heals. This is what i envisioned with the hiring of Sark due to his success at bama. And its only going to get better when better players get here.
So i am back to about 8- 8.5.
Sark is human but i think he is not so arrogant that he won't make changes when necessary, unlike that other guy.
I re-watched the game. It was like tasting a fine wine, not that i know much about that.

    Some additional thoughts.
I like the way Thompson moves up in the pocket then throws it, but if he decides to run he is already that much closer to the line of scrimmage. Someone might accuse him of having happy feet. But not me.
If i didn't know better it looks as if Roschon is learning from Bijan about jump steps, jukes to make defenders miss.
I also noticed that Brooks likes to hang with Bijan on the sidelines. Can't blame him for that. I would want to hang with greatness myself.
Isn't it sort of a given that when you have a big lead that you keep the play in front of you? So why was Jamison letting a guy run by him? I know Jamison is at least as fast. Was he expecting help up top? I know they are going to work on this for sure
I am not really happy with Schooler and Foster. It wont upset when they're gone.
The o-line play was awesome Did we make some kind of secret switch of players during the week? I noticed several pancakes down the field and nice blocks overall, hence the rushing yardage. This against a defense that came in at being good at stopping the run.
I dont fear any remaining team on our schedule. Yes we do have quality opponents but we are a team to be reckoned with. They better have their "A" game going like piggy if they want to beat us.
We are gelling better than jell-o.
We should be favored in every game including OK

I'm going from 7-5 to 8-4. If Sark can get to 8 wins in regular season that would be a great job this year and should have some momentum. The way Arkansas manhandled our lines though still makes me cautious. Louisiana isn't the team we thought they were barely beating 2 crappy teams after us and Rice and Tech are really bad football teams. We will know more the next 3 weeks even with TCU losing to SMU. The good news is that Big 12 is down this year and seems to be wide open. We will go as far as Bijan's legs takes us.

3-1 was the minimum record out of first four, anything less and Texas was headed to a disastrous season, I am pleased they hit that benchmark because the past two coaches would be sitting at 2-2 or even 1-3. But October will tell the tale of this season. Four tough games and if they can go 3-1 in those then I will be happy, 4-0 and I am ecstatic, 2-2 suggests not as much improvement as hoped and 1-3 well.......

Poms, pregame preparations were worse than in the game decisions. Both caused me to pause the Sark-O-Meter.

This is fairly typical of many Texas fans. Overreact to the most recent results, and project those results onto the rest of the season. You definitely aren't alone in how you felt after Arky.

Texas staff made great decisions throughout and O line reckoning must have worked.

TTU is not a bad team and made many big plays that could keep them in many games. K State is the one to watch. OU is always a game

Quietly much more optimistic then after Arky. Felt like death the morning after that, but I wasn’t overreacting and I think it was a blessing in disguise and it got us Casey. Still willing to give defense to benefit of the doubt after seeing other coaching improvements from this staff. As a former QB, I can really appreciate how active and strong Casey is in the pocket. He’s very deliberate with his eyes and feet if you watch him go through his reads and he steps up or side to side in the pocket very effectively. Dudes a gamer. I’m not calling for a 10 win season yet, as the next few weeks are important, but seeing Texas put together 2 thrashings where the team played 2 consistent halves of ball and didn’t play down to the comp is something we haven’t seen in a long time. It’s nice to see an actual offensive scheme as well and that Sark is getting his playmakers the ball. J Whitt and Xavier have been very welcome surprises. Keeping the foot on the gas on offense is going to make the dynamics of a lot of different moving forward. Cautiously excited.

Yes, happy. I do have some worries about the defense giving up big plays. Not a fan of the cushion the d-backs give either but maybe that is to help them get more confidence in the system.

Yesterday's game was just like my 15th birthday party. All my friends came; I got great presents. Near the end, though, Eddie Haskell showed up and put itching powder down my shirt.

Worthy is playing like we thought Jake Smith would play in the last 2 seasons. Imagine if we had Omiere playing ahead of Washington.

I hope I'm right, but what I like is it seems the Arkansas debacle lit a fire. It appears this team now has a will to want to not just win but to crush your soul in the process. If true this will help us tremendously in the tougher games moving forward.

I would be disappointed w/ 8-4. This team has talent rivaling OU closely. Based on 3 of 4 games this far. We should go 7-1 to end the regular season. OU and KSU look like the other two real good teams and Baylor is good too. Texas looks better than all three if they play this way all season. I can see dropping one more, but worse is less likely. IMHO.

    I agree.
Thompson is our William Wallace. He is our leader on the field against these infidels that want to keep us down. He is the spark that rallies the soldiers who follow him in the quest for VICTORY, GLORY AND FREEDOM!!!!!!

Nobody on this thread seems to consider WVU as a dangerous opponent. I think that is the biggest challenge for us aside from OU.

We definitely have some good competition ahead of us but all we need to do is finish one point better.
    "Just win baby"
Our offense is rolling, i mean rolling. Defenses will try to do something to disrupt our flow, namely blitzing. Hope we are working on screens and the TEs keeping their hands warm. I love we have been attacking the perimeter and i love when Sark said we are going to continue to throw the deep pass. The main thing is he keeps the defense guessing by spreading the ball all over the field.:trophy:
And as someone else said let's keep getting the ball in our playmakers hands.

I'll give Sark this year. I've said before, a new HC gets one free year since he has to install a new mindset, new schemes and goals, and he's playing with mostly the last HC guys. There are some top notch players, but Sark and staff had to get the players into a whole new mind set. He also has to prepare for the move to the SEC in a couple of seasons where we'll be a new commer and facing teams which are capable of beating most of the B12 programs into the dirt. I like seeing that we have a running game that wears down the opposing D's.

I’ll say this regarding Arkansas game. After the first quarter it reminded me of the BYU storm game in Provo. Horns had same look. Mental.
That team didn’t recover and they lost several games.
This team had that look, and I think they are handling it differently. They will and have demonstrated that they will learn and treating it as motivation

Don’t get me wrong I am happy but I was a 6 before the arky game, went down to a 5 and now I am back up to a 5.5 satkisian is going to have to more than drum a hapless coachless Tech team before I drink the koolaid.
Beating a team like this is something though. Herman’s teams never dominated a team even when they should have.
    so that is something.
beat TCU and beat ou and I will be all in.

Like it said on another thread, it feels really good to thump someone when you expected a tight game.
I love how composed Casey appears. Puts me in a can’t wait to see how the youngster handles the pressure our next few opponents are certainly going to bring.

I wouldn't call going from 7-3 to 8-4 a "great job", more like "A decent and minimally-acceptable job". Obviously we had some key losses like Ehlinger and Ossai - does anyone ever have zero key losses? - but the majority of our team is back. And while 70-35 against a mediocre opponent is a lot better than squeaking it out, I don't see it as substantially different from our previous conference game (69-31) - making it odd to hear stuff like "We haven't beaten a Big 12 team this decisively in ages" when almost the exact same score happened 1 whole conference game ago.

Mostly I want to know how we fare against Oklahoma, Okie State, and West Virginia, but I think playing in Ft. Worth will tell us a lot too, even though they also look mediocre. Not only because Case McCoy is our only QB to win at TCU since they joined the conference, but because it'll be our first road game since Arkansas, and will have a similar "hate dynamic" leading to a dynamic whereby we can be pretty sure our opponents will come out motivated and hitting hard. Not that TCU loathes us like Arky does, but all our Big 12 road games are gonna have an extra edge the next few years since we announced our egress.

I don't disagree but consistency is key, not trying to drink the kool-aid myself but Casey has strung together three dominating performances in a row (Colorado, Rice and now Tech). Thats the difference, we need to see ongoing performances against TCU, best test will be OU in two weeks. I think beyond that, the trip to Iowa st. and West Virginia are two that are going to test the team the most. West Virginia plays the best defense in the conference in my opinion.

So to answer the question, i see a difference in the offense with Casey at the helm, I'm pleased with what I see there and believe I see something that looks special there. Only more games will tell.

I’ll probably take incoming for this assessment but in 1968 DKR replaced all world Bill Bradley with what I believe was a once a third or fourth stringer, James Street. Bradley was a great player. But he was not a great QB for Royal’s new offense.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not suggesting that Casey Thompson is the next coming of James Street. However, this appears to be a different team after Thompson entered the game in Fayetteville. When you score 22 “touchdowns” (I’m not counting FGs) on 28 total possessions in your career at Texas, that’s not a fluke.

As I keep saying, until I see performance to the contrary, I will continue to believe that CT is the real deal, and that the sky is the limit now for this offense.

Couple that with what I expect to be an improving defense and pretty darn good special teams, and we might all be very pleased as the season evolves.
